1969 Camaro ZL-1
G’day everyone. After years of looking and enjoying other people’s models, I thought I’d stop being lazy and start posting some kits of my own. Therefore I would like to begin by showing my attempt at recreating the 1969 Camaro ZL-1. Those of you who are familiar with American muscle cars will know that this was a very special car back in its day, and even today is a much sought after item. The colour is Chevy’s famous Hugger Orange which I think suits the 1969 Camaro car very well. Anyway l hope you enjoy the pictures.

Looks great, love the orange. I'm not sure about the RWL tires, though i nowhere near an expert.

I'm a very huge fan of the zl-1 ,copo camaros. It looks perfect. I've always wanted to do a silver zl-1.

Re: 1969 Camaro ZL-1
Thanks Corvettekid. The scale is 1/25. The original kit was the z/28 which I modified were necessary. The wheels were donated from a forum member from scaleautomag. The motor was from a Corvette 427 kit.

Welcome to AF. Stunning build. Is this the revell or amt?

Nice project, looks just like the real version. Have you considered cutting and polishing the paint for a super smooth finish?

Re: 1969 Camaro ZL-1
Hi MidMazar. Thanks for the complement. The kit is the Revell version. I tend to find these a better quality than the AMT kits. Just my opinion though.

Re: 1969 Camaro ZL-1
Hi bigbertha. You are right I should cut it back, but to be honest I am scared that I might stuff it up, and that for some reason I find the Testors sprays tend to leave much more of an orange peel effect compared to Tamiya sprays. So far I paint all the shells of my cars straight from the can. However I have recently brought an airbrush and some paints from Zero paints for other cars so I will give this a try going forward.

Re: 1969 Camaro ZL-1
Thanks willdecletjr. Gotta love those Camaros right. I have a 69 Baldwin Motion in the cupboard ready to go. Also plan on doing a version of the 68 Dana Camaro in Hugger Orange as well (that's after I finish the 69 Boss 302 Mustang and 70 Boss 429 Mustang currently on the go). Will get there one day I guess. Anyway take care and keep on modeling.
