brake question on grand voyager
I have a 91 grand voyager and getting high squeaking off front brakes..new pads been on 9 months. If i touch brakes just right when going 20mph or less i can avoid it but in light regular braking it will squeak like pads are low..does a caliper with part of bore area chipped cause it or maybe a rotor that is in need of replacement(looks ok though)?
It seems to happen after warm up and not 1st drive. |

Re: brake question on grand voyager
Pull the pads and apply some 'Disc Brake Quiet" chemical to the metal plate portion of the brake pad. What you have going on sounds alot like brake pad resonance...basically the pad is vibrating and the vibration is transmitting as sound thru the disc.

Re: brake question on grand voyager-stumped
I pulled the calipers. Both looked bad.I also replaced the rotors and pads but have a odd finding and am puzzled what to change.
The front right caliper ,after install(caliper not even engaged yet)is not hooking into the groove-the new pads set in ...and entire assembly sticks out to the point i cant engage it in enough to lock..like corner to corner-after tightening bolts w slides pushed in for proper seating before screwing 2 bolts in.If pad was thinner it might lock in. The drivers side is fine and locks in place (the lock in grove on that side is on bottom) Im thinking either pad too thick or new rotor is a bit thicker on inside hub area. Any suggestions? |
