Question 2014 Ford Mustang To Come With Non-Retro Design

“The challenge or the opportunity for 2014 with a 50th anniversary car is to not just look back over your shoulder, but to try to win all of the Mustang faithful yet bring the brand forward as well,” J. Mays says in an interview with Automotive News.

“It has to look like a Mustang. But you go down a list of things that might or might not be necessary to make the car look like a Mustang,” he added.

More Details - 2014 Ford Mustang To Come With Non-Retro Design

I love this car as it is, with its retro lines and features, with it old sheet of metal and old-fashioned interior, but it seems that they have other plans for us...

What do you thin, it's a good idea the change something that is already perfect?

Re: 2014 Ford Mustang To Come With Non-Retro Design

I hate the retro Mustang, I hate the whole idea of restro styling.

It speaks to a lack of imagination, a lack of creativity and a lack of balls.

It is design stagnation, and there is no need for it.

Ford have proven over the last century that they can design modern forward thinking cars. The Ford Focus is a perfect example, a direct descendant from the Model T through the Ford Anglia and Escort.

If this is your opinion, then you'll be happy with this "radical redesign"

However, I still keep my opinion... you can't improve something that is already perfect, as it is. It's classic.

As Beethoven's music remains perfect after so long, the Mustang will remain in history as one of the classics

Imagine if Beethoven has stopped writing music after his first symphony?
Imagine if everyone had stopped writing music after his death?

How creative, new, moving and original music would the world have missed out on?

Design is a constant and evolutionary process, always seeking to make something better, or different or both.

The original mustang is, and always will be, a classic design. And there are plenty of them left to be appreciated.
As you said, it's perfect.
The current one is a failed attempt to improve on that classic design, and as you said, "you can't improve something that is already perfect".

When you reach that point it's time to try something new and go in a different, but evolutionary direction.
