Yes that GT Endurance 1997 book gives good close up what they did before Le Mans race.

Nobody it seems, has picked up on the 2nd paragraph, 1st column on the 2nd page and I quote "a competition version of the road cars ABS" a very interesting comment to make, is this an error or does the writer know something that is not common knowledge. Not having a copy of the ACO rules for the 97 event, one would presume components like the ABS would need to have been homolugated on the road car first, before being allowed to be used in competition. Does this mean one off or all of the F1 GT road cars have ABS fitted? or could it have been offered as an optional extra? Your thoughts gentleman .

Also in the same paragraph, it notes that the bulkhead configuration was different. I can also add that the floor in the pedal box area was also different from standard. I shall go into this in more detail soon, but I will say now, that both 24R and 26R are two very unique monocoques out of the ten 97 GTR versions built.

As far as I know, ACO allowed ABS on the GT1 class on the condition that the roadcar feature this technology.
I just checked the exquisite GT brochure. On page 33, one can read:
"Brake: Twin circuit hydraulic operation with electronic anti-lock system."

...and yet a similar page of specifications for the GT in "Driving Ambition" makes no mention of ABS being included on the GTs.

Interesting twist - perhaps a question that could be posed to Professor Murray next time someone sees him?

I would rely on the official brochure, but it has to be clarified nonetheless.

Next time someone sees Professor Murray, I suggest he ask him to join this great forum! That would be fantastic!

Re: ABS Brake system fitted to the 97 GTR

I,ve been meaning to get back to this thread for some while .

So to resume, here are a few pics of the ABS pedal mount from 24R, from my collection, This component being different than the standard mount, by having its brake pedal centre line, inline with the right hand brake master cylinder aperture in the bulkhead. I also know of the whereabouts of the cranked brake pedal, if I can get access to it in the near future, hopefully I can share some pics.

As you can see from this pic from DA (standard road car floor shown), The reinforcement blocks for the mounting of the pedal mount would have had to been inserted at the time of the layup of the floor panel moulding. Making both the ABS chassis,s unique in this respect, as mentioned in my earlier post.
