If u have had any problems with your neon, 1st gen(99) that is, my problem was fuel pump fuse would only blow when it wanted to, and not run again until it cooled off, an hour or so. Till finally it blew and stayed that way no matter how big a fuse i put in it. The pump was good, relay...good. No shorts nothing. It was something that has nothing to do with the fucking fuel pump. It was the wiring from the upstream o2 sensor, melted together. I go to the boneyard to try and find another, out of 18 first gen neons. 12 of them all had the same prob at some time, cause they all had been repaired, nig-rigged, what have u. After repair, this car runs like new, brighter lights, no shuddering, no delay in throttle, ac blows harder, this circuit runs on the same as the fuel delivery system, if it malfunctions it blows the fuse. Hope this helps good luck

Re: 1st GEN NEON, FUEL PUMP FUSE/RELAYS PROBS
Yep, it's a common issue on the neon. I use zip ties to keep the wiring away from the axle to keep it from grounding out.
