2002 Suburban anti lock

I have searched for answers with no luck. I have the low speed anti lock activation problem. My question is, can the anti lock brakes be disabled without having warning lights on the instrument panel?

I pulled the fuse on the end of the dash and the ABS light came on, which wasn't bad but the cruise didn't work either. I pulled the 60 amp fuse in the engine compartment and now the ABS and the brake warning lights are on, but the cruise still works.


I don't care if I have anti lock, the truck stops fine.

well I would say you haven't looked very much ,to say you have no answers to your problem !

this is the biggest problem with our vehicles next to the defective brake lines that rust out..the hubs are cheap crap metal..the abs sensors in these cheap crap hubs get pushed out ..at slow speeds the sensor output is too small so the abs starts pulsating and you end up into some accident .

could be just a cleaning of the sensors mounting surface of the hub , so the sensors sits above the hole correctly...

and / or when you remove the sensor the blue grease is red in color ...what that means is the hub is defective...new hubs come with sensors..the output voltage of the sensor with you rotating the hub is about 450 mvAC..if below 300 mvAC this is not good ......

Yes, I did find all of what you said. My question was, is there any way to keep the warning light from coming on when you pull the fuse?

I'm not paying the $1000 the dealer wants for changing the hubs and I don't want to do it myself.

That would be a illegal operation.
Like tampering with a saftey feature.

Do not do it.

with your cost issues with this. do not have dealer work the repair.

have the non dealership determine the failure using my info for failure components if any ..could be just some rust forcing the sensor out of the hub hole that the sensors sets in....

now If you just want to disable this ABS you remove the 60AMP fuse and put black tape over the warning lights..

thats the answer.............

being a computer controlled vehicle there is no way to trick this into stoping the IDIOT lights from coming on..

ya if you get into an accident you could be held responible for disabling the ABS.. I got hub for my 2000 silverado 4wd for 75.oo last year..1A auto..comes with the sensors...

dealership cost to replace both front hubs would be 1200.oo...or more if they damage the rotors when removing......

So the dealer shouldn't have suggested I just pull the fuse.....

I supose it would be illegal for the dealer to disable them but I should be able to do what I want. No different than driving on bald tires, having no tail lights(which I see all the time), etc.

I will fix it eventually but I still believe that I am better off without ABS. Anytime they have activated I know I could have stopped sooner without them. When they come on at low speed it's like it is never going to stop.

I don't know of any way to turn the ABS light off short of clipping the wire that feeds the light (definitely not recommended!!). At least with the ABS system disabled and the light on it will remind you to get it fixed when you able to do so.

However, with the "brake" light on also would be a major safety concern. The ABS light is amber, meaning "caution" (fix when you can). The brake light is red meaning "whoa" (fix now!!) Should you have a major brake system failure and the light is already on?????????? Not a good thing.

You can do anything you WANT IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD.
But if you operate it on a federal funded highway you are subject to federal law and rules and regulation plus your state laws.

Also your insurance may not be any good if you tamper with your safety equipment.
