Question 2002 Anti theft

i have a 2002 Jeep gc laredo i bought recently after i got back from Iraq last august. i went downstairs this morning to get in and start it up, but found that my keyless entry remote is dead. i thought ok, i'll just get in manually, start it up and go get a new battery. Oh how wrong i was, i can't start it because of the anti theft device and i have NO idea how to disable the anti theft device (probably why it is an anti theft in the first place, if it was easy it wouldn't work) what can i do i need to get batteries, but have no way to get there short of calling a ride?
any help would be greatly appreciated...

Re: 2002 Anti theft

I don't know if there IS a way to get past it without the remote....and I'd be getting that ride.

I've adopted a policy of changing my batteries in these type things at about 3/4 the time the batteries die...that way never have to worry about it.
