Nothing affecting us directly in El Paso but we have one thats been burning up in the Organ Mountains of New Mexico about 40 miles away close to White Sands Missile Range. So far over 12000 acres and only 40% contained. The sad part is one of our Abrams M1 tank crews started the fire using tracer rounds during gunnery training so it has been dubbed the "Abrams Fire". Oh well.

We should be sure to "tank" them for their efforts...

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

This comment is in no way a slam to some of the other forums on AF, but I cannot believe how much better our Grand Prix forum is than others. My bosses brother has a 1991 Jaguar XJ-6 that has this funky information/warning system (similar to our car's DIC, but not as intuitive) that alerts you if a fuse is blown, the brake pads are worn out, etc... and I was trying to research how to reset the warning message so it stops displaying "Fuse 1" (he had a blown radio fuse). NADA/ZIP/ZERO info over there, and this seems like something that is pretty elementary on this model as Jaguar used the same basic system for about 7-8 years. The owners manual tells you how to read the messages and tells you what fuse 1 is, but gives no info on how to erase the code(s) once the fault is corrected.

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

Anyone ever see an orange grand prix???

This one was at the local junkyard. From a distance I thought it was a grand prix, but didn't believe it because it was orange. Sure enough, up close it is. It has to be an older one because it was an SE and the front bumper was the older design. I just didn't think they cam orange from the factory, and if not, and someone had this one painted orange, the painter did a damn good job. Got in all the seams and door jams, and no runs or flakes.

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

I've seen a yellow GP being used as a taxi but never orange and I don't recall orange available from the factory. Probably just a good aftermarket paint job.

Speaking of orange cars while coming back from out of town on the freeway I saw an orange Dodge Neon SRT-4 blow the doors off a Mustang GT. The roll on was from around 70 mph.

However to be fair there are other good specialty auto forums on the Net that do a good job on Grand Prixs and other GM "W" body cars so I would not hesitate to use them or send members to them but not in an open forum. The best ones are the GM LS Tech forums especially for mods and GXP/Camaros.

Many of our AF forums are either dead or useless. Exercise in futility to revive them or have hope especially when the experts, die hard enthusiasts or Moderators who are supposed to be knowledgeable in the make/model don't participate or contribute much.

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

Tim,

There is a SPODA Prix around here that is Orange and Silver. I say SPODA Prix, because it has 22's, a stupid paint job and too many aftermarket add-ons, so it ain't SPODA look like it does...

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

ya, orange was deffinately not from the factory. and it must have been a 97 if it had the first design SE bumper, unless they just stuck it on there for whatever reason. i cant imagine why anyone would spend that much money on a good paint job for the SE with that ugly, ugly bumper

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

Ha ha, yeah I've seen a handful of SE's over here and man that thing looks ugly!. It's like a mosquito, with those short bumpers and body all the way on the top you can only see the legs (tires) touching the ground. You get the picture, right?.

On another story, a friend came home asking for help with his minivan today. The transmission was acting slowly and when we checked the fluid level I couldn't see it, it took me some time to realize it was on the dip stick but was a transparent fluid. The dipstick says to use mercon v but as far as I know it should be red just like any other type. Do you guys know of any transparent AT fluid? :s.

Oscar.

I call the old SE front end the anteater style, looks like it's trying suck up ants and bugs.

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

New topic,

3100 head gaskets in a 1994 olds cutlass.

Managed to get all exhaust studs out except for 2 that broke off. But a drill and easy outs took care of that. Running like a champ.

Re: Grand Prix "Take a Break" Thread

Hey everyone! Just figured I'd drop in and say hey. haven't been around in a long while because technically I don't have a GP anymore. Ended up buying my GT back from the insurance company, but it's been sitting in the same spot since January

Still on the lookout for a black '04 Comp G!

So anyways...how's everyone been? Anything new??

Everything seems to be fine over here, just kind of too quiet...

What have you been driving lately?

Oscar.

I've been driving my '06 Impala SS around. Fun to drive, but gas sucks when you like to get into the throttle
