Question A/C belt squeal - 2002 Outback

UPDATE : Resolved. Simple fix, the belt(s) were loose. Went ahead and replaced the belts and had them adjusted properly, everything is working great now.

Gang,

My wife's 02 Outback squeals when I first start the car, and then turn on the A/C. If I turn the A/C off the squeal immediately goes away. Most of the time if I let the car idle for 15-20 seconds, or start driving, I can turn the A/C on and little or no squeal. It's usually fine unless I need to really get into the throttle, like going up a steep hill, then it will squeal again, but usually settle down after I let off the throttle.

I also noticed it squealing (slightly) a couple of times under those load conditions with the A/C off.

So my question is it the A/C compressor pulley going bad, or could it be an idler pulley? The A/C works fine but the squeal is crazy annoying.

Thanks,
Ed
