turn signals/brake lights

1994 Chevy 1/2 ton w/t. When pushing the brake pedal with the headlights on, the third brakelight works fine but the rear taillights/running lights shut off entirely. The turn signals flash quicker than normal at the front on whichever side you turn on. The rear turn signals flash both at the same time but very dim no matter which side you turn on. The four way flasher works fine with the exception of the rear lights being dimmer than they should be. I'm hoping for a quick and easy solution, any suggestions?

It sounds like your truck has a bad ground on one of the rear lights.

I seem to be having the same issue. When I have the brake on, and the right turn signal on the Flasher goes much faster than the left side, could that mean the bad ground could be on the right side? I checked all of the trailer harness wiring and haven't gotten to the wiring in the frame yet. Is there a relay that may control the power? I checked the fuse box in the truck and under the hood. What is the relay inside of the cab, next to the flasher fuse??

are you talking about flashers inside you have 2 of them one for emergencie lites one for turn signals?

If the right tail light flashes but is dim, check the connectors to the right side plug for corrosion. They may be oxidized or not contacting the pins to the circuit board. Give the female connectors a gentle crimp to make them "bite" onto the male pins and restore the electrical connection. Then, add some dielectric grease into the connector and around the rubber seal to keep out water and dirt.

Thanks I'll try that in the morning.
I happened to get into my truck and the ignition was off pressed the brake pedal. The buzzer started to go off as if I had left the lights on. Any thoughts?

This is typical of a crossed up hot wires-- the brake/turn light circuit is crossed up with the park lamp circuit. Such that either "on" feeds both.

This usually happens when the wrong bulb is inserted, or the correct bulb is not installed correctly.

But the last time I saw this, I found the conduit that houses both circuitry wires (green and brown) was smashed in behind the fuel tank support bracket- from a recent fuel pump change. The "ace" mechanic had tightened the bracket with conduit pinched between bracket and frame rail- those wires were flatter than a pankcake- and had crossed into each other- casing this nightmare.....
