so i'm fifteen and its almost time for me to buy my first car. My dad will probably give me his 2001 acura integra if i cant find a decent car, but i 'd like to avoid that if possible. I am thinking about maybe an older mazda rx-7 or something like that? sporty, under 7 grand, and under like 120,000 miles. I would appreciate any suggestions on cars to buy, or any suggestions about modifying the integra.

Re: Looking for a first car for a new driver
I'm in the same boat I wanted something sporty cool and cheap and I came across something I loved. The Volkswagen GTI's are very nice 200 hp turbocharged and they look sick the price isn't exactly in range as of now but give it a couple years and it'll drop you could even consider taking the acura and selling it for some extra cash.

Re: Looking for a first car for a new driver
Take a good look at your insurance rates before buying. Most new, teenage drivers get clobbered with high insurance, and the sportier the car the higher the premium.
You might find the best deal is to drive Grandma's K-car until rates come down a bit as you gain experience. Otherwise, the RX-7 is a nice choice, but they get relatively poor fuel economy for their size, and the engines are a bit odd to work on. |
