2002 Impala - Neutral Safety Switch

Hi All,
Well, have a bit of an issue with the daughters car that I thought I had figured out, but I guess not. It seems that it will not start at times, and running the column shifter up and down thru the different gear options and then putting it back in park will allow the car to start. This has happened about 3-4 times in the last couple months now so we'd like to fix it.

I thought this part was on the outside of the tranny, but after talking to a part department today they say no.

Where is this switch? In the steering column? Does anyone have any pictures or instructions on how to get to it? Maybe a GM part number? I really dont want to dig into the steering column without knowing what I am looking for.

Appreciate the help!
