1993 chevy 1500 tailite and dash lights keep blowing fuse

As i have no taillights this needs to be attended asap. Every time the fuse is replaced it blows almost immediately even when replaced with a larger fuse. There is no problem with any other fuses in the panel or known electrical problems in the truck. Its a safety issue, and I'm convinced its a simple fix but don't know where to start, any suggestions?

You have a short in the wiring somewhere. look at wiring at front and rear lights for a bare wire. have a good look at the bulbs as well. I had a bulb go bad years ago and it kept blowing fuses. Boy was that a head scratcher...lol.

First place to look is at any trailer connector harness- see if anything is amiss in that area if you have it.

In addition to this you may have a headlight sw issue if it's blowing the fuse with the sw off. Do Not use bigger fuses when trouble shooting as you can easily fry some wires.

Had the same problem with my wifes Tahoe and it was the pigtail for trailer connection.

rather than using a fuse , use a 12volt lamp. when the lamp is bright this would be a short circuit. when the lamp is dim the short is removed. place this across the fuse socket . having long wires attached to the lamp[bulb] you can monitor this as you check the wire harness /etc.....
