2003 upper engine noise
Yesterday I started the car and there was no upper engine noise. By the time I got to work, there was a lot of knocking that sounded like valve train noise. I thought it may be a collapsed lifter, but it sounds like it is coming from both sides of the motor. It sounds like it is not getting enough oil, but the oil level is fine. Today it was not present when I started the car, but came back after it warmed up. It has a 2.7 L engine. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: 2003 upper engine noise
could be oil pressure drop after engine warms up.
you could check it leaving gauge installed(need extra long hose) how many miles??how often is oil changed??

Re: 2003 upper engine noise
I changed the oil every 3-4 thousand miles. I have parked the car but it seems to be starving for oil on the top end when I start it up (oil is cold). I am a GM guy and am new the Dodge motors. I am going to check the oil pressure this coming weekend. Is it typical for the oil pump to go out on these cars. I had heard sludge buildup was a problem. Maybe some sludge got pulled into the pump?
