2002 Taurus Radio Aux Input?
So I have the integrated radio with single cd, NO CASSETTE in my taurus.
I found this. http://www.v8sho.com/SHO/Instruction...d%20Taurus.htm Im trying to figure out how to add a aux in here. I would be fine with stealing the functionality of the CD. Does the CD pinout to the rear the same way the cassette does? Does anyone know the pins for that? I am figuring I cant use the cassette outs as i have no way into tricking it to switch to that source. OR Is there a way I can tap into the changer plug in the back to hook up there? How would I fool it to see the changer. (I have no changer now) |

Re: 2002 Taurus Radio Aux Input?
Does your stock head unit have a CD Changer button to select a changer if one were installed?
In addition to the left and right channel wires (shielded) there is also a System On signal (probably sourced from the RCU), cellular phone audio left and right (not sure the function of these), and "Audio Protocol" A and B lines. I'm guessing the audio protocol lines would need to see activity on them for the RCU to recognize a changer as present. I've never scoped these lines to see what function they play and no longer have a car that I could try that on anyway. I think there was a thread on here quite some time ago regarding adding an iPod input to the stock system with an aftermarket interface module that's figured all this out before. I want to say it was a PAC Audio device. You might search this forum for details, try keyword "iPod". -Rod |

Re: 2002 Taurus Radio Aux Input?
I have a 2007 SE. To be best of my knowledge, the RCU from 96 through 07 has the same style plugs/interface.
I have an XM Radio and I use a PIE audio device, works quite well. Others have had issues with them, I have not however. It taps into the un-used CD changer port on the RCU. It then has a left and right RCA input. I bough a 1/4" headphone to R+L RCA cable off of Newegg.com - 25' for about $15. I got mine off of Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015CY1WA If you need any images, I can take some of my setup and put them up for you.
