Stock Radio Aux Input

Hello,

Has anyone tapped the aux input to a stock 2000 Silverado radio? I've mounted a laptop computer under the seat, with a remote keyboard/mouse and a remote video screen. I'd like to be able to play the laptop's audio output directly into the aux input, which from the factory is a casette deck. That way I can use the laptop for DVD and MP3's. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brett

Re: Stock Radio Aux Input

I'm a compute technician at a Elem. School and I use a laptop computer to DJ with on the weekends, and all I can say is try to find a cable with both ends you need, or some type of converter and give it a shot. It sounds like a good idea to me.

I wish that the 99's had the Aux input feature.... I have the stock radio with CD player and I don't think I have the Aux input option on my radio.

i bought a fm transmitter that plugs into the usb port on my laptop off ebay... this uses the laptops power supply thus elimating batteries or cords running to the fm transmitter. It has 7 or 9 different stations you can use. I believe the brand is "Line X" or something... anyway... i just installed an in-dash dvd player and dont need it anymore... I will sell you mine...i paid 40 for it.... i will sell it to you for what-ever you think is far... you pay shipping... I used it maybe 10 to 15 times.

FM Modulator

I appreciate the offer, but yesterday I purchased an aux input tap from http://peripheralelectronics.com Basically, it's a cable that plugs in between the head unit and the slave cassette giving me two additional RCA inputs. But again, thanks for the offer.
