Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

definately replace the valve cover gaskets. you will be right there, also if you plan on getting rockers now would be the time to do it. also if you have to put plugs in, it is much easier with all that stuff off.

Question Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

Okay havent had a chance to get to the dealer but I havent been driving the car either. I will be going tomorrow and doing the work on Sunday with my brother.

BNAYLOR said something about using only GM o rings. Which o rings is he talking about?

Rickisrad said something about changing the rockers. When and why would i want to change them?

Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

The rockers are a performance modification. the only reason to change them would be for performance. I am not quite sure what o-ring Bob is talking about, maybe the fuel injector, or coolant elbows. He will answer soon though.

Woot! Performance modification sounds good. What rockers would you recommend for the upgrade? Are they something I'd have to wait for until I was able to get them in the mail or maybe pick them up today locally in Phoenix AZ?

For the LIM and supercharger. There are two specifically. See link. You can get GM OE supercharger and lower intake manifold gaskets, seals and o-rings from ZZP. Just stay away from any that say Garlock.

Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

you would use 1.9 ratio rockers for the gtp and no you cant buy them at a local store you would have to order them from one of the performance sources in the sticky section.

Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

You can use 1.9 ratio "modified" rockers. If you use 1.9 roller rockers you will need to upgrade the valve springs. Just to clear things up.

Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

Or stick with 1.8 rollers rockers. I have the SLP 1.8s on my GTP. Didn't take too long to DIY install either. Beats installing a new bumpstick.

Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

Okay we did the job but broke two pieces and I don't know what they are called so I need to find out so that I can get them ordered. I think that the overheating problem I had over last summer took it's toll on these pieces because they were pretty brittle and cracked way to easily.

Can you gusy please tell me what these pieces are?

Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

The one on the left is the Blower booster cap.

http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...1033&catid=106

The other one is the boost bypass valve

Why did you remove the vacuum line going to the BBV? I just leave it connected and remove everything with the supercharger.

Ha ha...I'm not sure why I removed that vacuum line. For some reason I felt it needed to come off.

Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

Okay she is all put back together and is purring like a kitten. Thank all of you for your help.

I have one last question on this job though. The picture below is of the piece that connects directly into the blower bypass valve that I broke and had to buy again. (Thanks again TBlake) There is a little male piece that sticks out right next to the other male piece that sticks out and connects to the BBV. I cannot for the life of me figure out where this connects to or even if there is anything it connects to since the car is running great. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

Connects to nothing. It should have a little piece of foam/filter material on the end. Mine too has gone away. HAHA!

Any more coolant leaks?

Re: 2001 GTP Plastic Heater Hose Fittings

No leaks that I can tell of so far. I am going to pressure test the coolant system again tonight but this morning when I checked everything looked good. Thanks for all your help man!

Cheers to a conservative victory in 2012!
