00 lincoln ls Annoying beeping and steering wheel controls and horn not working, Please Help!

I have a 00 ls v6. When I first start the vehicle the is a beeping sound. It beep 5 times in a row and then pauses for a few seconds and repeats the sequence 5 times. I was told that this could be an airbag problem and my airbag light is not working. Also, my horn radio and cruise controls are not working on my steering wheel.

Please help. I simply can not afford 200 just to have the car looked at. Thankyou

It sounds like the clock spring in the steering column is failing, a common problem in the Lincoln LS. It is about $130 part and a relative easy DIY replacement.

Yes, a new clockspring may fix all those problems except for the SRS light being burnt out.

Yes.

Remove the instrument cluster.

(Don't worry about saving the parameters since you will be putting the same cluster back in.)

Change the bulb.
