FORD - Found On Road Dead.

BTW - The problem is we have people giving their two cents worth on models (i.e. Grand Prix) they know nothing about or probably never owned let alone ever worked on one.

I'd say the 5 letter word starting with a "T" but I'll save that for a PM.
Bob, tblake is 6 letters.

I was going to say something, but I've never worked on 04+ GP's so they may as well have a nuclear reactor under their hood for all I know.

You're intelligent Tim. You can figure it out or send me a PM and I'll explain. Only a few words start with a "T" when it comes to Moderating.

The '04 and up wiring is the basically the same for the fuel pump circuitry compared to '97-'03. I've doubled checked the Helm GM FSM at least for '08 GPs with the LS4 and NA SIII 3800 engines and no changes. Definitely no inertia switch in the circuits. And still ECU/PCM controlled. It is not a difficult circuit to troubleshoot. A digital multimeter comes in handy.

The major change is to the fuel pressure and return supply system. On '97-'03 we had both. Now for '04 and up there is only a pressure feed and no return to the fuel pump assembly. And no owner replaceable fuel filter. It is in the gas tank. Also, the gas tank has to be dropped to replace the fuel pump. There is no access cover from the trunk.

Re: new fuel pump/has power but doesnt turn on

Don't you mean Fourth On Race Day?

My favorite is

Fxxked Over Rebuilt Dodge

But Ford's arent bad. Just some of the designs they come out with are not the smartest. IE take the back seat out to gain access to the top of the strut mount bolts on the 2000's Taurus. Just stupid. After I am all greasy from working out the bottom of the strut, the last thing I want to do is jump into Grandpa's back seat. But whatever.

On the plus side, they are the only manufacturer out of the BIG 3 that didn't need a government bailout. Comforting thought that GM now stands for Government Motors.

And call me stupid, I still can't think of the 5 letter word that starts with a "T" that Bob is referring to. LOL!

I'd say the one with the "F" word but we have the religious police watching over us. Tim knows all about that.

All of the '04 models I've worked on including my own have a replaceable fuel filter (AC#GF872) in the same location as the 97-03 models. They also have a fuel pump access cover in the trunk. The '05 and up models do not have an access cover or a replaceable fuel filter. Over the years I've found several parts on the 2004 model to be one year only items.
