Lumina APV Wont Start. Good Battery
Have a 96' Lumina APV. 3.4 L. I have run into this problem intermittently, and now the van is putting its foot down and not even trying. I try to turn it over and I get nothing, not even the radio will turn on, no door chimes, nothing. However I could let it sit for 5-6 hours come back and it starts maybe three or four times with no problems. Another way to get around it is to remove the battery overnight, charge it, and it starts right up. Thinking its not the battery at this point, because eventually it does work, but not all the time. Its weird, any suggestions are appreciated. If you need any more info let me know. I was thinking about replacing the battery, but it tests GOOD when its on its own and not connected, but when connected i get 0.03-0.04 v out of the battery terminals.
Thanks, Steven Gill |

Re: Lumina APV Wont Start. Good Battery
COrrosion at battery terminals is terribly treacherous. At one time, mine would seem neat and dry but there was a hard coat of non conductive oxyde and only a serious cleaning using a file restored proper contact...and suddenly all returned to normal.
IN several cases, one installs a new battery and just playing with the cables restores contact or the corrosion was with the battery contacts only....and it seems the original battery was dead although it was just waiting to deliver with proper clean contacts....
