4wd or 2wd?

Anyone in a snowy part of the country get around good in the snow with a 2wd ranger with plenty of wieght and good tires? Or should I go straight to the 4wd? I've never had a small pick up. I live in Iowa (moderate snow fall).

Re: 4wd or 2wd?

I'd go with 4wd just to be safe and make it that much easier to get around, But thats my opinion

Re: 4wd or 2wd?

I've driven a 2 wheel drive Ranger in Illinois for 16 years now . Worthless in the snow,, With weight in rear you can get where your going , But you better be a good driver

Re: 4wd or 2wd?

I guess i'm in the minority GBG. I've got an '04 2WD and I don't have any problems at all. No weight and studded tires all around. .....Mike

Re: 4wd or 2wd?

Ive driven a 2wd Ranger 17 years now in the snow in Illinois, Good tires and lots of weight will get you there but its like walking a tightrope. Kind of scary. For the past 7 year I leave the truck at home and drive my front wheel drive car instead.
