ScaleProduction | NEWS November 2011 | Nismagnum and A_B_T Golf Mk5

Dear fellow modelers,

ScaleProduction is happy to announce a couple of new products: the Nismagnum and the A`B`T Golf Mk5.

Inspired by Bob's (ZoomZoomMX-5) clever design and the huge amount of positive reactions here on AF and in other forums, we decided to create a transkit. Bob gave his OK to the project and we set to work. The transkit has been finished in time for the annual model show in Frankfurt, but I didn't have enough time to build / finish one. Fortunately a friend from Berlin (Karsten) said he could build a Nismagnum in time for Frankfurt. Painted in a nice sparkly orange it really shows the lines of the R34 / Magnum body.

The Nismagnum transkit is designed to fit the Revell Dodge Magnum SRT8 (#2019) and comes with a ScaleProduction resin body, chromed headlight bezels, taillight bezels and clear parts from the Tamiya R34 Skyline.

Thank you to Bob and Karsten for the outstanding support! It has been a pleasure to work with you guys.

The Nismagnum sure is attractive for the Nissan Skyline / Japanese car enthusiasts.... but we also have something new for the Volkswagen aficionados: the
A`B`T Golf V GTI.

After we figured out why almost all built Fujimi Mk5 Golf GTI sit rather high, we decided to do something about it. The Fujimi is a nice and well engineered kit, and a leasure to build. In order to add some visual grunt to the rather bland body, Sebastian (voyageur) scratched the
A`B`T -inspired front spoiler entirely from sheet styrene and built the quadruple exhaust. Sebastian says that he is not really that comfortable with puttying and sanding, so he handed the WIP over to a friend from Belgium, Fabrice Maréchal. Some of you know Fabrice from the annual model show in Jabbeke, Belgium where he frequently wins a lot of trophies. He also writes several articels per year and reviews model kits for the French isue of the Tamiya Magazine. (http://www.t2m.tm.fr/tamiya_index.php). He is very comfortable with putty and sanding and build the sideskirts, the rear bumper and the roof spoiler from scratch using only MagicSculp. The parts delivered to ScaleProduction from Fabrice have been of such high quality, they went straight into the silicon to make moulds! No finishing touches necessary!

The
A`B`T transkit is designed to fit BOTH the Fujimi Golf Mk5 GTI (#12315) AND Fujimi Golf Mk5 R32 (#12328) and comes with resin front and rear bumpers, sideskirts, roof spoiler and exhaust. Assembly is easy, all Fujimi mounting points are used and the original body must not be trimmed.
The ideal kit for modelers who have thought about a resin kit for a while, but were afraid "not to be good enough" to buy an expensive resin kit and just try it. Hey, we`ve all been there ;-)

A useful hint for resin rookies: clean the resin parts with silicone remover before painting to avoid fisheyes!.

Thank you to Fabrice and Sebastian for your support! It has been great fun to work with you.

>> Important Customer Information: The second run of the KEN Audi Sport quattro has been removed from the shop due to massive pre-orders. After the pre-ordered kits have been shipped, we'll put it back in the shop. Thank you for your understanding.

I ordered the ABT kit last week. I hope it will be here soon.

Good to see some transkits for VW's! And as always the parts are incredible nice and clean!

Kris.

I think he means the crappy power windows on 1:1 Volkswagens, they do fail regularly. A cheap-o plastic part brakes, the glass falls into the door and can't be wound up again. Ignacio Lopez says hello

On my mkIV both of my window regulators went. I changed one side and the other i put the window back on track and tightened the bolts. Thats what you get with german engineering, constant headaches.

No. That's definitely not German engineering. That's international cost-cutting!

The last cars you could really call German engineered have been the following (and some more): VW Golf and Jetta Mk2, Mercedes-Benz 124, 126, 140 and 201 series, BMW E30, E32 and E34, Audi 80 B4 and 100/200/V8 C3. Those have been the last cars designed by engineers without the bean-counters having a lot to say. Unfortunately this changed dramatically in the 90s.
