2001 T&C Leaks Gas From The Exhaust??

I have a 2001 Town and Country and when I start it up, in about a minute or so, it starts to leak gas from the exhaust. White smokes come from the exhaust and gas starts dripping out onto the ground. Do any one might know what the problem are?

Thanks,

Marion

Re: 2001 T&C Leaks Gas From The Exhaust??

If it runs fine and has a "sort of" white smoke, it could be just condensation...

If it runs bad, it's a head gasket, most likely... Did you overheat it lately???

Just to let you know, take off the gas cap and take a sniff, then sniff your exhaust pipe... If they don't smell the same, then it isn't gas coming out of your tailpipe... All kidding aside, it would be evaporating before it would make it to the tailpipe exit or be a giant flamethrower, LOL...

Re: 2001 T&C Leaks Gas From The Exhaust??

I smelled gas and seems to be pure gas. The coolent level is good. I had the head gasket replaced but still the gas continues.

The vehicle use to run rough but since replacing the head gasket, the roughness is gone but the gas continues.

The vehicle didn't over heat. There's no water mixed with the oil.

Please continue to help!

Re: 2001 T&C Leaks Gas From The Exhaust??

Also, did you JUST have the head gasket replaced... Like yesterday???

If you have a lot of the old antifreeze caught up in the exhaust system, it can take up to an hour to REALLY "burn" out everything from the old head gasket being blown...

Yes, the head gasket job was completed about two days or so ago. How ever, I also notice gas coming from the maniford (from under the hood).

The vehicle runs well.

I'm being told that I could gotten hold of some bad gas or water might be in my gas tank.

Re: 2001 T&C Leaks Gas From The Exhaust??

Water in the tank would make you run bad...

If it runs well, it may be residual antifreeze in the exhaust... May take a GOOD hour of heavy driving to remove...

If you have any gas leaking under the hood, then those people who fixed your head gasket, may have broke something else (the manifold is under the hood) and it should be fixed right away...

Gasoline is flammable and dangerous...

There really is no possible explanation to have raw gas out of the tailpipe... If anything, it would be in the form of BLACK SMOKE and the van would not run properly...

Antifreeze that is burning out of the exhaust system SMELLS REALLY BAD, but not like raw gas...

Good luck...

Re: 2001 T&C Leaks Gas From The Exhaust??

I understand. When I first noticed any thing, I noticed the strong smell of gas. It's a good thing I was at home at the time. After I restarted the vehicle, the vehicle ran rough and that's when I noticed the gas coming from the exhaust. After the head gasket was replaced, it took away the roughness but not the gas. After rubbing my hand under the manifold, that's when I noticed wetness from the manifold.

IF you are seeing gas leaking from manifold you may have the seal leaking
from the quick disconnect connection.not some thing you want to leave unattended
call repair shop. they may want to tow car or send someone to take a look
DO NOT DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION

Re: 2001 T&C Leaks Gas From The Exhaust??

I forgot to tell you but it's at a car repair shop now. I had it towed there when I noticed the gas smell. The car shop thinks it's gas in the tank or maybe something wrong with the computer. I'm not sure, I'm trying to get as many solutions as possible, so I can tell them to check this or that. But no, I won't drive it. I won't even take it from the car repair shop until it's fixed.

Thank you,
