Do i need a new snout on the tranny or bellhousing changes or anything like that? I am sure I can ebay the mcloed. I hope I can still use the mcloed TO since it was $350.

I wonder if I can take the stacker trailers tailgate winch and mount a pulley inside the trailer and use it to pull the car in...hmmmmm

Ok Ok...im on it....

Just purchase the 3000lb remote controled winch from Harbor Frt. It will be the best $59.00 you have spent. This winch works great for loading and unloading our cars. It also makes tie down easy w/ the remote key fob. Off to Mid-Ohio for the week end.

OK Jim, I still can't get over how cool that colour looks on your Panoz. Maybe its time to shed the Penske look and go "original".

Kel.

My wc car was the Panoz green and white version and looked like a Krispy Kreme box. My SCCA and NASA friends would paste boxes to it each morning and put o% transfat labels on it. All in good fun. If you want The Nason paint number I can get for you next week.

Mcleod says its installing wrong. claiming the pressure plate is cocked on the flywheel pins or something like that. But after the first wrecked one I have been EXTREMELY careful with the install and i am now thinking the setup is a POS. When I pull it apart next weekend I will know more.

Deven, just because its new dont rule it out. Where talking alignment in the thousandths of an inch. If the pressure plate is stuck slightly crooked on the flywheel pins you have shifting issues and the tranny can eat itself. I wish someone could tell me a package that is easy to install, works well, and will handle 500 FWHP.
I wasn't very clear - what I meant by Brand New, was that I don't think it's a wear issue, the clutch only has 45minutes of run time on it. I really believe it's a shim issue and of course the bolts, washers, etc on the shifter - that will be my project after this 4th of July weekend.

Kel, if you have easy steps to measure shim height, I am all ears, I have the documentation from QuarterMaster....but, it's "documentation".... I value real life experience.

The Quarter master instructions are pretty straight forward and what you should do. i'll bet its more of a shifter issue. Also The shifter touret you have is probably getting worn out! when i pulled my Hurst shifter out to replace it with the Steeda one it was in PRETTY BAD SHAPE! Lots of play in the pivot ball joint and such. new "shifter" may be in order!

Devin, sorry its taken a while to get back to you. Have moved out of our house as we are vacationing overseas for 6 months. May even get to the States for a couple of weeks (Boston area) if things work out.

The issue (I am guessing as I dont have a GTS single plate clutch) is shimming the slave cylinder so that you have the correct travel for pressure plate operation.

I have read that some owners have had to remove the trans from the car several times to get this correct.

What I would do is make up a long hydraulic line for the clutch so that you can operate the clutch with the engine and trans removed. This way you can "bench set" the clutch clearance prior to sliding the trans then the engine in. This will save a lot of time pulling and refitting the trans.

May not work for those of you who pull the trans seperately but I usually pull both at the same time.

Kel.

Re: Liberty's Gears Tremec Options

I am expecting a new 2 disk clutch with hydraulic TO bearing this week. A work sheet comes with the bearing. My understanding of the shimming process from Q-Master is to measure from the clutch (fingers) to the bell housing. Do some math and come up with the amount of shim required. The bearing comes with shims. Sounds like a lot of issues relate to the TO bearing.

The Liberty Gears trans sounds like a nice piece. Maybe over the winter....
