Question '97 740il - Dust/Pollen Filters

In addition to the two filters mounted to the underside of the hood, I understand there are 1 or 2 additional filters in the interior.

Does anyone know if there's 1 or 2 and where they are located. Are they user accessible for replacement? Are these filters Micron or Carbon? Are there less expensive sources for them than through the dealer?

Any info. would be appreciated!

Filter

Yes there is a microfilter in your Bimmer. I am not sure where in your model (E38 I believe), in the E32 it is located almost behind the glove box and adjacent to the center heater duct. I have procedure for E32 but not sure that is the same so you may wish to vist roadfly.com and the E38 board, register (it is free) and ask this question on that board. Or, you cn Eamil me and I can send you a text and photo how to on the E32.

Micro Filters

A little more information. There are two filters and the sources for them are great. Avoid the dealer and try bimmerparts.com or eurasian.com or the Partsbin.com as a start.
