Probably not, his transmission advantage would be the difference. It woud be close, I think he'll take you, though.

mx vs gsr

If you now how to drive your maxima 97 se and its a 5 sp , 1/4 mile you can run a 15.5 stock. I think a gsr will not do a 15.5 bc a type R pulls a 15.3. So i think a good driver could definitely beat a gsr. specially if the race gets to top speeds

Check out my thread on Burnt Rice Twice, it'll give you an idea of what your Max should be able to do against the gsr, the one I faced was tricked out and I still ran him in the ground.:smoker2:

i have a 95 se 5 speed with catback exhasut and intake. my friend has a 98 gsr. he gets smoked on the regular. my other friend has a gsr engine in a DX civic he can definitely hang with the max. his car is only 2300 lbs and hes pushing 180 hp. integra's are really heavy cars. i beat a type r too. that was a close race, but i took him by about 1-1 1/2 cars.. I raced an rsx and beat it by like 4 cars.
the only Acura/Honda car a maxima should watch out for is the 3.2 cl/tl Type S or (maybe) the new 247 hp accord

Yeah, those 3.2 Type S's are pushing 260 hp but their torque is not that great that VTEC really pays it's dividends on the high end not the bottom end. I don't know much about the new accorn but if it has 247 it will be one to watch out for. I have a lot of respect for Honduhs but I just don't like it when one of them poseurs try to roll up next to you and race when all you wanna do is cruise and like Nissan used to say "Enjoy the ride"

poessa's max reply

Well That TYpe R you ran was either A/T or had a sorry driver b/c I own a 96 max 5 sp SE , and althoug its stock, I know for a fact that only a cat-back exhaust and an intakr is not going to drop .2 seconds. IS your exhaust mendrell bent, cold air intake? And I beleive that the 4 door 6 sp new accord with all that horse power ran a 15.7 in "road and track", I am pretty sure that the 2 door will do better. DO you have rims ? did that type R ave rims?

There is no 4 dr Accord V6 with a manual...it is only available in the coupe. And it ran to 60 in 6.2 seconds, and through the 1/4 in 14.5 @98mph. (Check out the new Motor Trend.) That is one damn fast Accord, watch out for them. But they're still ugly compared to a Max...the grill especailly, they're just weird.

the type R only has 142 lbs of torque and unless you can chirp third gear in an automatic the car was definitely 5 spd. i don't even think they make a type r auto. no i don't have rims. no he didn't have rims and i think he just had an exhaust. i didn't hear an intake
