over charged refrigerant
Folks, I've gone and done it. reading the instructions in my haynes manual, and on a can of refrigerant, I'm pretty sure I manage to over charge my A/C unit.
It said run the car with max A/C on for 3 minutes, never said to shut it off. About the time I reached 30psi on my gauge I looked over and noticed liquid sprinkling up around the serpentine belt. I cant quite tell where its coming from. I dont know how to pull the A/C unite with the pully on it. I was hoping someone could tell me where to start here. Is this something as easy as a blown gasket, or a possible hose im not seeing, or did I really scew myself on this one. Air conditioning did work well until all the refrigerant leaked out. and it still blows with a decent amount of pressure. |

Re: over charged refrigerant
you've got a major leak then... you said its coming from the belt area... that'll be the compressor
can't see since i'm not there in person may have to bring it into a shop if you can't pinpoint the leak yourself |

Re: over charged refrigerant
134 with leak sealant, and its a 96 regal with a v6 3.8 3800 engine. and it was a rather large can, like twice the size of two small cans. when i shut off the car and check the pressure, it was like 70psi, but when the car was started it was only pushing 30-35psi.
