Unfortunately I can't share where nor any photos but what I can say is:

-15R is in its Gulf livery of LM 1996 wearing its race number 34.
-15R doesn't seems road registered at all: no plates, only one racing seat with five point harness.
- Many details in the interior such as stickers with "pit lane speed limits", specific driver adjusments are still on the dashoard and suggest that the car was not returned to its LM96 configuration after a street legal conversion
- The body is different than "M66 MCL".

Just look at pictures of 15R at LM 1996 and you will see exactly how it is today

That is some of what I had heard Thomas. Thanks for joining up and sharing more detail so that everyone can benefit.

With your information, it seems that ever considering the 'M66 MCL' GTR to be #15R would have been a mistake on our part unfortunately.

Hopefully #15R won't remain hidden away forever. These are the only two photos I have of the car which I believe were taken once it had completed racing, unless someone else knows different about the timing/location of them?

= = = = = =

Le Man - your comments seem to be leaning more towards "There is no #04R anymore" if I am reading you correctly.

I agree with that summation as well, becuase without #04R still in existence, then we end up having an extra car we can not account for. Plus I believe what Duncan Hill told Greg.

Ok, just speculation, but at least there were 2 Macs in the Mine race and not so many possible chassis for that #61 car as we have concluded. I think it's now more likely the question of which one, 04R or 14R, has been road converted and which one is in the LARK-livery.
DOC also remember, that the BMW Motorsport GTR,s 16,17,18 were also available options that could have been used at MINE!! Just a thought.

Very interesting first post Thomas,

So you actually saw 15R,

The last information I had about 15R ( from a very reliable source) was that Lyndsey Owen-Jones kept the car in Paris, as last raced, for some years after 96. If this is still the case, thats great news.

Can you confirm this? if not on the forum, via PM please .

So are you suggesting it was either 10R, 16R, 17R or 18R then? Do you have the 100% sure info which chassis was it that competed in Mine as #61?

Until we can confirm 100%, I,d go with a 96 chassis, that was used to infill for the Mine race. Logic backs this thought up, why use an older version GTR, if plenty of 96 spec GTR,s were available for use.

What we need, are lots more pics from the Mine race.

As for the indicator/side light, these can easily be reversed from one side of the car to the other.

Re: My 1000th post----- The whereabouts of GTR 04R?

Le Man had another moment of brilliance and it allowed me to find 'M66 MCL's details on the DVLA website using "McLaren F1 GTR" as the Vehicle Make.

Quote:
The vehicle details for M66 MCL are:

Date of Liability 01 04 2011
Date of First Registration 25 04 2001
Year of Manufacture 2001
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 6064CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status SORN Not Due
Vehicle Colour ORANGE
Vehicle Type Approval

Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle
6 Months Rate £112.75
12 Months Rate £205.00
Of course those details may raise more questions than they answer, given the "Year of Manufacture" listed there.

I suggested to him that perhaps that is related to the year it was converted for road use. I am not sure how strict the DVLA are about such matters when it concerns that sort of thing.

Re: My 1000th post----- The whereabouts of GTR 04R?

Shame ot does not list chassis number as that would identify if it was the original monocoque or a replacement in which case it may be considered a different vehicle for the purposes of registration. I have had this headache before when rebuilding a car with a new chassis bodyshell, a reluctance to retain its original identity by the powers that be, beurocrats.

Yeah - we need a connection on the inside at the DVLA who can pull the record and write down the actual VIN.

While they are at it, please have them do the same for "F1 MCL".

No. Quite unfortunately this appears to be the only thing that could be considered an interior shot of that particular car. Not sure what you can gather from it but I am guessing 'not much'.

( I have the other two pics, if anyone is interested)

This is a 1024 version from the book, look to the drivers right through the windscreen and you can see the Mil spec wiring harness conectors. Here is a better pic of the ECU,s position.

M66 MCL Has alot of 96 components on it . IIRC we covered this a while back, which GTR,s did you say were in the set of factory pics posted by TVR Freak? (mainly the 96 spec one )

Here is one from #06R, lower down in the car than the one Le Man showed to show the '95 siting of the ECU for comparison

At first I was like "Whoa, how did you get that picture?", not realizing it was from GTR 17R. I'd like larger versions of the other two - especially the side view please!

The '96 car in his photos should be #11R as it is wearing the roof scoop. None of the other LM-clones ever have.

Yes - the cars there that day should be XP5, #011, 'R66 MCL' (prob #059), #07R, #11R & #26R.

Here you go,

plus another pic you may like if you have not already seen it.

I,ll have a look back at TVR Freak,s pics, as something did not sit right with me then, so I shall study them again. Thanks.
