What do you expect he saw kicker running around with a gun this weekend - no wonder the little fellow was hauling ass...

From years of hunting the birds and then having owned a flock of khaki campbell farm ducks, I can tell you they are very intelligent. Every year, just before duck shooting season, hunters set up their maimais (hides for shooting for those from outside NZ) and the ducks just take off and end up making a nuisance in parks, domains and my golf course for about 6 weeks.

I wouldn't think that a duck would show up on radar... I was under the impression that organic matter had such a small radar footprint (especially that of a duck) that it wouldn't register on radar...

If the duck was trying to get into The Fast and The Furious 2 he should have the lead part because after all he does have 2 WINGS...LOL

It's those wings that are making him go fast.

Ci5ic it depends on the way the gun is set up. I have sat next to the TVNZ crew who use a handheld radar gun (which is similar to the old units used by the police in NZ) to measure the speed of a delivery of a cricket ball. A cricket ball is a lot smaller than a duck.

And I think the same technology is used to measure the speed of pitches in baseball in the US.

But I thought they (baseballs, etc) had some kind of metal in the core or something (specifically placed there in order to register on the radar)...

nope. They can pick up smaller items. We have used one to measure the speed of a slapshot on a hockey puck (solid rubber - no metal)
