ok, so I would like to get down and dirty with fixin' up my car....and I would like to start with the exterior. I know, I know....start with the performance part first, but for now, it's got what I want. Intake, GReddy Exhaust, and 9.3 mm wires.
so anyway, this may be cheeseball or not, don't know....I'm kinda new to the scene....but I would like to paint the calipers on my car. I know the kind of paint I need to buy, but the process is foreign to me...no pun intended. ![]() I was wondering if anyone would be nice enough to post the process for me? as a girl, I want to learn as much as I can and work on my car as much as I can w/o taking my car to a local shop. I've heard it's not difficult, just time consuming. thanks! peace, blujae P.S. might as well kill two birds w/one stone. If anyone can tell me how to remove the sideskirts/trim off my car so I can paint them, I would much appreciate it. again, thanks!

I've painted my skirts on mine, so that I can help you with.
Providing the 5th gen skirts attach the same way the 6th gen ones do (I have a 6th gen Civic) then all you need to do is take of 2 screws that connec to the skirts in the FRONT wheel wells, and then there's 4 screw type clips underneith the skirts that hold them on for the rest of it. Then just slide them towards the FRONT of the car, and they should come off. ![]() As for the calipers, I'm considering doing mine myself as well. To my understanding, all you really have to do is make sure get them spotless clean so that the paint can adheir better and not flake off. People I know that have done theirs have used a smallish size brush to apply the paint, all you gott do is just remove the wheels and that's it! Hope that helps you out.

to paint the calipers you may not want to take them off. if you do you gotta bleed the brakes and all that bs. it's be easier to just clean em off and tape up the area so that you can just spray them there. Use high temp paint.

Removing Calipers From Your Honda (Front or Rear with car in and wheels off).
Tools needed: 1. 14 mm wrench and socket w/ appropriate ratchet 2. C-Clamp Process: 1. Use 14 mm wrench to loosen the 2 bolts located on the back of the brake calipers. 2. Remove them completely with the ratchet or fingers. 3. Clean with a can of Brake Clean ($2 at your local Autozone) If you just want to paint the caliper then you can do it right then w/o having to remove the brake line. Technically you shouldnt let the caliper hang on the brake line, but it won't hurt it unless your sitting on it at the same time. 4a. Use C-Clamp to squeeze the caliper piston if you want to make more clearance to place back over brake pads (not necessary). 4b. On rear disc brakes use a big flat tip screwdriver to turn the piston because it doesnt move if you just squeeze it. 5. Put everything back together. 6. E-mail, IM, Reply if you have any questions. |
