Question hybrid vtec

need help have a civi hatch 93 with a type-R head, gsr block, type-R tranny and a gsr ecu and recently installed apexi v-afc and now when the v tec engages at 6 where i wanted it to the check engine lite comes on and then it bounces at 65 but my redline is 9800 i now the ecu thinks that the that the v tec is not engaging but the controller knows it is so i am assuming that the return signal to the ecu is being lost some where to fool the ecu into think that it has engage or some thing like that. all the connections are correct and currently trying to figure out if there is a bad connection so if you can help please give me a suggestion because anythig can help at this point
