Re: 94 PA red exhaust manifold, no OD, only 10-50 mph and more.

Another update:

Sorry this has taken so long. I'm still on it though

I loosened the belt completely, and the alternator turns fine, but the crankshaft pulley is frozen in place. Last time I started it fired up like new, but didn't stay running for more then 15 seconds or did but would only creep, in drive. Always died when pressing on the accelerator. I'm not going to attempt that again until the work is done.

At least that means the motor isn't seized right? I'm going to get the timing chain replaced and go from there, if you think that should be my next step.

As always, thank you!

If the engine fired up and ran like new for 15-sec, that means the engine has not seized and the timing chain may not be the problem. Would the engine rev normally during this 15-sec of run time? BTW, have you checked fuel pressure yet? How about the TPS, or MAF? You really need to find someone locally who knows how to diagnose this for you.

I am going to say this again... You need to have someone check the fuel pressure and troubleshoot from there... Until you have the real issue figured out you will end up throwing money away..

I agree with HotZ28

Thanks Don, I think this is the 3rd or 4th time we have mentioned "FUEL PRESSURE" without any feedback as to what the actual reading is. Some people follow advice given here and quickly resolve their problems, while others keep asking the same questions over & over while seeking advice elsewhere, then being totally confused by the incompetent advice received. All I can say at this point is, Good Luck!

Oh. I'm very sorry guys, we have a real misunderstanding here! By "fired up," I only meant started...still makes all the noise etc... So, doesn't run like new, just started right up with out any problem.

When I was asked about the fuel pressure in previous posts, I stated I hadn't done it, because my car wont stay running. I have always been under the impression that it needed to idol, and no one told me different...honestly my mistake, and I apologize.

The only advice I'm taking is yours, so I'll check the PSI and get back to you.

Thanks again!

I'am still thinking of Heat damage -
Cracked exhaust manifold, or gasket
Cracked Intake, or bad gasket
Yep! A bad EGR system could act like an open window to the Intake.
Is there any pieces of an old catalytic coverter causing blockage?

Re: 94 PA red exhaust manifold, no OD, only 10-50 mph and more.

The chances on a Linear EGR sticking open is very slim... On the 94-95 3800 C and H body PCM the PCM monitors the position of the EGR pintle, if its out of range( what the PCM is calling for ) it will throw an EGR code... I seriously doubt that this is the problem..

And I seriously doubt she has an intake crack...

If I was not far away I would try to help as I think this is a simple problem, but I can't be there to look at it...
