Re: Tire & Rim Size Questions

Yeah, we're at 12 degrees right now. We got down to 2 last night. -3 is our all time record for 12/8 set back in '56. (Fun fact for the day).

I checked Craigslist for rims and they didn't have crap. I'm probably just going to have to sit and watch like a snake in the grass.

Here are the pics. Hopefully I linked them correctly. The adapters were pricey ($380 delivered) but I had them professionally custom made by Fred Goeske. He is an old racing legend in his own time that owns wheeladapters.com. He's a pretty cool guy and has many years of experience racing and custom building. He has a 4.65 hydrogen peroxide funny car that was banned from all US tracks by the NHRA. I got them wheel/hub centric so they fit like a glove. They are made out of high grade billet aircraft aluminum and are 1 inch thick (thinnest safely possible). The rims were a steel at $200 on craigslist, and the new Yokohama Avid TRZ tires I put on are the quietest tire and best responsive tire I have ever had ($550 for set). I don't think I will ever buy American tires again. The Goodyear Eagle LS1's were loud and had poor tread life.

Drawbacks: You need to slightly modify the front wheel wells so you won't rub the tires while turning. Since you have wheel adapters on, places like Firestone and Discount tire legally cannot touch the car due to past lawsuits. I had to bring my original wheels on the car with with my new ones in the back seat for them to put new tires on. They can change the tire on the wheel, they simply cannot put the wheel on the car.

Benefits: The look is amazing. It gives the car the newer look of modern cars with larger wheels like the 300m/magnum/charger. The handling is amazing. And the launch......HOLY SH#& . I use to spin out in the 2-4 shift but now the car launches and doesn't bounce around as much.

I will need to go in for an alignment to see if everything is ok (camber). But so far I'm loving the widestance look

Yeah, they sure look sharp! Steal on the G6 rims. Wish I could find a deal like that around here. How did the adapters work? The go on your hub, and then they make it a different bolt pattern? I just don't understand how they would work.

Re: Tire & Rim Size Questions

Basically take of the wheel. Put the adapter on the hub and lock down the provided lug nuts. Put the new wheel on and bolt it down. They fit like a glove as long as they are hub/wheel centric. The wheel adapter is about 1inch thick, and a socket bored down into the spacer about 3/4 where the lug nuts fits, and a hole bored straight through the adapter in the center of the socket. So when the adapter is on, the original lug bolt are not sticking out past the adapter, and the adapter has new lug bolts of its own. They are strong as hell and will outlast the car even in a broad side wreck as seen in the pic. Go to wheeladapter.com if your interested.

(Mustangs suck, but these adapters are great.)
