Arrow Tire & Rim Size Questions

Yes, yes, I read the older posts. My current tires are about half way through their tread and so I just want to get my ducks in a row. Instead of investing in a new set of tires for rims I don't like, when the time comes, I'm going to see if I can get a deal on some new rims. I'm thinking about going with 18's and from what I've read that seems pretty safe (what are the stock rims? 17"?) The bolt pattern is 115 x 5, right? How wide of a tire can I go with before I start hitting the wheel well? Also, with 18" rims, what size tire would I need in order to maintain the current overall tire height so I don't throw the speedometer off?

Thanks!

Re: Tire & Rim Size Questions

I recommend 18inch tires. 19 inch look great but you'll pay a fortune in tires, since they are considered a weird size. 18's look awesome though. I was able to put the 18inch rims and tires from a 2007 Pontiac G6 GTP. I needed wheel adapters for the mod but they look great. I had to modify the wheel well slightly to prevent rubbing of the front tires (225/50/R18). I would post pictures but I don't know how.

Re: Tire & Rim Size Questions

OMG, please post pictures!

go to www.imageshack.us

upload your photo's there, and then take the "direct link to image" link and post it back here.

I think the 5 spoke chrome 18's off G6's would look kiack @ss on our gp's. Not sure if that is what you have.....

How did the adapters work? Were they expensive, and Are they safe?

Re: Tire & Rim Size Questions

I've got 225/60/R16's right now and if I went to 245/45/R18's wouldn't that mean that my wheels would be 20 mm's bigger (I can't remember how tire sizes work)? Would that screw my MPH's up? Anyone want my stock GP rims once I get new ones?

If you had rubbing issues with 225's, how in the world can anyone run 245's and not have the same problem??

Re: Tire & Rim Size Questions

Go to that link I posted and type in the info on your stock size and the aftermarket size. I think it even tells you how many MPH it will be off.

Hmm. According to that, 245/45/18 will actually give me a more accurate MPH than the ones I have now!

Re: Tire & Rim Size Questions

weird! Problem is I think with different sized tires, MPH gets farther off the faster you go. (if that makes sence).

he is talking about the GTP wheels. they are a little different than the ones you are thinking of, which are the GT wheels. i always wondered what the GT rims would look like on a GP.
