Which is kind of funny considering the FWD ATX and AWD ATX share the same internals other than the whole output shaft, and the FWD ATX had proven to hold power reliably a few years back.

Yea. A lot of people were touting on about how the trans wouldn't hold the power. I wasn't really concerned about it at all. So far, it's held wastegate pressure on stock turbos on a 10:1 n/a block just fine for a few thousand miles (on my old one). I'll post results on my Spyder when (if) it ever gets finished. LOL

Re: What is my car a AWD or FWD?
make me an offer.
![]() I will most likely be listing it for sale once it's done in the $25-30k price range. We went to look at a house earlier today, and may be buying it (if we can get things to work out!). It needs quite a bit of remodeling, so... the Spyder would help pay for that. The built engine (forged internals, etc) has 3k on it, trans has about 60k with if I'm not mistaken a shift kit and high-stall torque converter. turbos are brand new (15g's), new paint/widebody, black interior, I'll even include the remote control top, 18" wheels, blah blah blah.

Re: What is my car a AWD or FWD?
well let me know when you get it finished and ready for the market and we can talk numbers. i would need to find somewhere willing to give me a loan for a 15 year old vehicle, so i still need to do some footwork on that end, lol. For book-value purposes, did this start life as an SL or VR4?
BTW, lets see some pics! this thing sounds mean Last edited by AutostradaVR4; 09-02-2009 at 10:41 PM. |

The front bumper, fender, hood and headlight were damaged, and the airbags blew and cracked the windshield. Whatever they hit, was acidic enough and sprayed over the whole car and had major paint damage... which is probably what pushed the repair estimate past the "salvage" mark. It also tweaked one of the sensors in the top, so that stopped working. That may also have had something to do with the salvage title, I do not know for sure though. I had it professionally fixed last spring and PA re-issued it a clean and clear title. (carfax will show the salvage mark though). Frame is straight, top works flawlessly now. I have pictures of EVERYTHING (from start to finish, and all of the work in-between). I'll be having it appraised once it's finished. It should appraise for around 35k'ish. The paint job/body work alone is about a $10k job... not including parts. AWD conversion another 5k job (including parts). Body panels (widebody, front/rear bumpers, viper hood, rear bumper and diffuser) around 3-4k, exhaust is around $1000+, remote controlled top computer is another $280+ install, built engine maybe 4-5k'ish? brand new 15g turbos around $1500'ish, custom black interior (mostly labor. professionally dyed), wheels and tires another $800-1k... That right there is around 26,000. not including the car itself, or labor for the engine/trans/turbo swap/install. also doesn't include the gauges, injectors, IC work/piping/upgrade, blah blah... ![]() Actually... that's pretty depressing now that I jot down the numbers. HAHA I'll have to sit down and go through my receipts one of these days and calculate it accurately. If you're looking to get a loan, you may have a better change getting a personal loan or maybe a loan for a collector car?? I'm not sure if something like that is offered. I'll keep you updated once it's finished. It's kind of been pushed to the back burner for a bit, and may be done by late this fall.

Re: What is my car a AWD or FWD?
This is the progress so far. Widebody is installed, all of the body panels are fitted. We need to do a little cutting and cleaing with the rear widebody fenders, and make the rear bumper sit a little more flush, and it's ready to be prepped and primed. Engine bay is painted, and the engine itself is assembled and ready to drop in. Interior is gutted and ready to be dyed, but I want to do that absolutely last.
We just have a lot going on at the shop right now... we're installing a separate body shop along with a paint booth, and reorganizing the shop. So, my spyder has taken a bit of a back seat. At least though, by the time it's ready to go, we'll have the paint booth up and running so it should be absolutely FLAWLESS So, I guess I can wait a little longer. ![]() http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...09%20Overhaul/

Re: What is my car a AWD or FWD?
who makes that rear diffuser? i was looking everywhere for one a while ago and had no luck.
Looks like one hell of a project, cant wait to see it when it's done. It that a Cianci front bumper? How hard was it to put the TT rear subframe in? Was there already enough clearence for the driveshaft, or will that take more customization? guess it's probably too late to apalogise for thread hijacking lol...oh well |

It's an extreme dimensions front bumper. It fit like absolute SHIT. But I liked the styling, so, I got it anyway... it just took a LOT of work to make it fit properly. It's a pain in the ass to do AWD conversions, and even more-so with the Spyder. The space for the driveshaft is already there, just the mounting points need to be added to the car, and with the Spyder, there is some additional work needed since the roof pumps, etc are in the way of how we would normally do an AWD conversion on the coupes.
