Why the discouragement?

I have a 98 civic ex, and almost everyone tells me i should do a swap over a turbo. Like its useless to turbo the d16y8 cause youll still be slow. Right now i dont want to make my car the fastest thing at the track, just a fast daily driver. So the b18 swap will put me at 180 horses and 126 trq, and supposedly the fmax turbo kit will give me 230 horses and 212 trq... to the wheels, with stock everything. Heres the dyno chart... http://www.f-max.com/dyno%20d16%2096%20alpha.gif
Now i dont expect to just get this kit and throw down 230 horses, but still, i think its rather impressive. I would expect maybe 190 horses and maybe 210 after some tuning. The kit runs about 3700, so i figure itll only be a little bit more money than doing the b18 swap... So what am i missing? Why do a swap when theres turbo d16's putting out these numbers? Would a turbo d16y8 beat a gsr swap with cai/h/e?

the fmax kit runs alot of boost on a stock bottom end, but if you got the money, i say go for it, and build the internals. i choose turbo d16 over a swap any day(even though its only sohc). they got potential too, and if you blow them, they are cheap and easy to come by, where as b series are much more.

Yes, by a long shot.

you'll enjoy the turbo much more...just be careful. Build your internals and do everything the RIGHT way...if you don't treat your turbo like the investment that it is...you'll be swapping out that engine pretty soon anyway.

It says the fmax kit comes with bigger injectors... but ill prob need pump/rails also to run 12 psi right? Do i have to build up internals to run 12 psi or will fuel system, ignition, and tuning be enough?
