Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R

The other project for the 24 hour build off is this Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R from Fujimi.

It's also a very simple kit, and again this is perfect for a build off like this.

I already sold the original wheels, so I had to find an other set. I'll use these VOLK CE28 wheels from Aoshima.

I also will use this home made exhaust. I replicated the Fujimi apex'i N1 exhaust.

The color will be Mica Red

I sanded the body, and primed it twice. After that I sprayed 4 layers of Mica Red on it.

Than I added a few small decals, and clearcoated the body 4 times.

During the build off I started to polish the body.

After that I masked of the body to paint the windowtrims.

and painted them.

With the scale fabric spraycan I painted the interior. Now it looks like a suede effect. I painted the centers of the seats in red, and added grey carpet on the floor. It looks crappy on the pics, but IRL it looks much better....

The chassis was also ready. I modified the brakediscs to fit the wheels.

now it was time to finish the body. I added all the small parts and the windows are also placed.

When I was home I made some final pics of it.

I really love the color and the shine, and I think it's a nice build for 24 hours.

The kit was also good and everything fitts right.

Kris.

Wonderful. Those wheels nuts are crying out to me for a black wash though. Everything is super clean. I like how you have consistent presentation of your work and it's easily recognisable as yours. I've been on the fence about buying mica colours but yours I think has persuaded me to use them....body looks fantastic.

Amazing again in 24 hours.

What clear coat did you use that allowed you to polish and done in such a short time?

You, my friend, make it look easy.
Mica Red is possibly my favourite colour for model cars and it always looks good on a R33.

Well, the aoshima and fujimi wheels mostly have a sort of a small tube inside the wheels and you must add a polycap in it.

The tube inside the Aoshima wheels are a bit bigger than Fujimi so I only had to make the hole in the discbrakes a bit wider. I also don't needed to lower the suspension or something

This was maybe the easiest wheelchange in my modelhistory . Normally I have to modify the wheels an a lath and scratchbuild everything to fit the wheels.

@ Scalecar: I used the normal TS-13 Clear from Tamiya. As the text says I painted only the body a week before the real start. If I painted the body on that day I'm never able to finish it. I always let my paint dry for 6 or 7 days before polishing. Everything else is painted and builded within the 24 hours.

Kris.

Hello,

I used 1 can for mica red, and 1 for clear. I always spray about 4 layers with each can.
