Re: Wendover Utah Pro Solo Event 04-26-09
Yeah...it was the Spoon Hardtop I had in mind. I'd take the Spoon hardtop anyday, even a cheap semi-knockoff version of it wouldn't hurt either.
Although, seeing that Mugen type isn't half bad. But it wouldn't sway my decision if I had a choice (or the budget) for the Spoon top. Any other modifications in mind for the S2k? I know you get the bug each time you have a new vehicle. You want to go faster. Simple bolt-ons don't suit you. |

No major plans really. I already have one of the best street/track suspensions matched with the next best wheels other than Volk TE37's. If I can find the same size and offset in the TE's I will get those. The exhaust I am looking for has been narrowed down to two, and the intake will be a Password JDM carbon chamber intake. Might toy with a header if I have money to waste. I will be replacing the final drive with a 4.52, dropping the flywheel out and putting the AP1 in it's place. That should be it, aside from a few minor exterior pieces. I am not really interested in boosting it. |

Volk TE37's? Nice choice, I've actually been more of a fan of their LE-37's. Especially in a gold finish. Saw an Evo with them in a magazine a while back. Looked incredibly amazing. Ever since, I've had a wheel crush and wanted a set. Hell, even just to own in my room.
As for the simple bolt-ons, they'll do you some justice. From what I've seen, they'll net you about 16-20 whp. Sounds like you've developed it more for time attack and "canyon driving". Either way, S2k's are pretty hot. If I had my choice of one, I would look into an all white/red leather interior model. Pity they are discontinueing them. I think 09 is the last year they will be offered. I think the S2000 was offered longer than it was really intended to be by Honda. But still, I've had the pleasure of test driving one. Although, I never had my chance to open it up on the roads, I did get to rev it. It was music to my ears. Any chance you may sway your opinion on the Mugen top and go out and buy yourself a Spoon version top? |

The TE's have been my favorite wheel since I first saw them. LE's are okay I guess. ![]() Yeah, I want to use the car for what it was intended, and that's the corners. I saved for a few years after ditching the Si. I wanted just a fun weekend car. I really wish they would have dropped the model earlier than they did, just to keep the numbers down. I have had plenty of changes to push it hard, and it loves to respond back. That would be a negative on the Spoon top. I honestly do not think it looks that good on a otherwise stock S2000. Maybe with a wide body kit, or some flares. But that is way beyond what I want. The 16-20hp gain is actually quite high. Typical with the F22 would be about half that. It is hard to squeeze extra hp out unless you really start to get aggressive. |
