Trans am track times

Went the track today and got a several runs in the Trans am in.
My worst run was against an LS2 GTO. I ended up with a 13.8@101

My best run was a 13.5@103 which I did 3 times.

I'm pretty happy but I thought I would trap higher.

I had lid, k&n, hptuned and on street tires 18's

Re: Trans am track times

That is kind of what I expected. Autos tend to give you pretty consistant track times. Sounds fun.

Re: Trans am track times

Anytime you can run a mid-13 ET with trap speedds over 100, you're doing just fine. This is especially true with a car like yours, geared more for highway use. And don't feel bad about getting beat by a GTO. It's been happening since 1964...(:- The late model is no exception. He's lighter and more powerful than you are.

nice consistency. theres nothing like launching a rwd car and it jsut flying down the track. thats pretty decent, good enough to beat most things on the street.

I never said I lost it was just my worse run.

me..
r/t - .055
60' - 2.268
330 - 6.002
1/8 - [email protected] mph
1000 - 11.641
1/4 - [email protected]

LS2 GTO..
r/t - .457
60' - 2.372
330 - 6.115
1/8 - [email protected] mph
1000 - 11.509
1/4 - [email protected] mph

We were racing against each other and not the time. I crossed the line in front of him. It wasnt by much and he had been gaining steady on my since i left him off the line.

I didnt understand it at first because he never passed me at all but it was my reaction time that beat him to the 1320..

I was happy and suprised a few people. A friend of mine said when we were staging alot of people were talking about who would win and obviously everyone picked the Goat.

My friend said he had me picked to win though.

I'm pretty sure the late model GTO is heavier than he is, they tipped the scales around 3800lbs. 4th Gen Fbody was around 3400-3600lbs if I recall correctly.

Re: Trans am track times

Yeah, that is what I recall Stig. Though heavier, they do have a pretty stout motor behind them so they can definately run if they are getting traction. Either way, awsome that you got it to the track man. I would love to take the VR4 to the track.

Re: Trans am track times

You can check out other cars from the Columbus Racing track day. Some pretty bad ass rides out.

Re: Trans am track times

Nice times there.

What I'd like to understand is how you're running a 13.5 @103 mph with a 2.2 60 foot time, while my car can just manage a 14.0 @ 103 with a 2.1 60 foot...I don't even know how that's possible. I want to drive my Ford into the Grand Canyon at this point.

I got the 2.2 when I ran the 13.8. I was cutting a high 2.0 when i was running my 13.5's

to be exact.

[email protected] 2.111 60'
[email protected] 2.090 60'
[email protected] 2.156 60'

these were a few of the runs

Re: Trans am track times

Your 60 foot times are nearly identical to mine then. So most of our stats are equal, except for my car mysteriously running a full half second slower...It's not like I'm missing gears or having trouble finding them. I'm getting good launches and a good trap speed, there's just something lacking in the middle, which doesnt make sense.

I've seen bone stock S197's run 13.7-13.9 @ 98-100 mph with worse 60' times than mine. So I'm totally lost as to how mine is so much slower on the ET.

I shoulda bought a Chevy...Hah.

Re: Trans am track times

It's such a money pit though, and it's useless as a DD and my other Chevy broke, so I replaced it with a Ford when I really shoulda got a Honda, but I'm not all girly like Matty so I got a Ford and now my life sucks.

Hahaha.

Re: Trans am track times

Sell the stang, buy a new camaro. That way you won't have to be girly, or have your life suck.

My only guess is your lack of consistancy in driving being you have a manual. With a trap of 103 you can hit 13's with some good driving undoubtedly. As I said, with an automatic like jeepcw's, he will bring in consistant and fairly good times.
