Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!

Happy new year 2009, folks!

See some interesting news:

Hyundai to slash domestic production by at least 25 percent during Q1

...Hyundai announced on Friday that it will be slashing its domestic (Korean) production by at least 25% in the first quarter of 2009. “We decided to reduce production by 25-30 percent at all of our domestic factories, except two lines for small cars, in the first quarter,” Jake Jang , a Hyundai spokesman, told Reuters....

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!

Yes, it is just like Greenblurr93 says.
Of course I thought that Hyundai could do it better but it seems that it didn't.

Let's wish that the economic slowdown will not last much more. From this economic slowdown, people loose their jobs.

I wish all of you folks, a succesful new year, with good incomes and moreover... a nice boycotage for the useless companies!

Last year, EVERY car company except 1 posted a loss... Subaru was the only car company to post a gain... and it was only 0.3%

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!

Folks, did you know that the head of Hyundai-Kia conglomerate was sentenced to 3 years in prison in year 2007?

He was sentenced for embezzling corporate funds, dealing a blow to the company as it struggles with labor unrest at home and increasing pressure from Japanese competitors abroad.
Kim Dong Oh, the presiding judge, said his court was punishing the 68- year-old Hyundai chairman, Chung Mong Koo, for "illegal and anti-market practices."
Chung's "raising of a large-scale secretive fund and using it arbitrarily" was a "clearly criminal act" that "greatly undermines the transparency and soundness of business management and has many adverse effects on our business culture," Kim said.
But the judge said he would allow Chung to stay out of prison on bail while he prepared an appeal and to "minimize the impact on the economy."
So Chung Mong Koo didn't go to prison. He still manage Hyundai Group. In my Country there is a saying "The fish smells bad from its head"... I'm not sure but I think that this saying describes the situation.
I am a little confuse here. As I am surfing in the internet, I found criminal acts from Hyundai's executives. Now this... the Head of Hyundai...
What examble gives the Head of Hyundai to the other executives and employees of Hyundai Group? Isn't he a bad examble?
What is your opinion?

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!

I copy - paste an interesting question from some guy
"Why is Hyundai allowed to use illegal aliens to build cars at its Alabama plant?
March 24, 2009 | Car
I heard today that Hyundai uses illegal aliens at its plant in Alabama. Who are they really making jobs for? Americans? I don’t think so.

Direct linking to another forum isn't allowed.

However, there was no proof in the posts i read, merely speculation. I would like to see some evidence of this.

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!

Back in 2005, Hyundai was ignoring Labor Ministry, using irregular workers. Ι emphasize that one of the workers, committed suicide because of the ugly situation!
Read the article (the link of the source, below):
================================================== ========
Hyundai Motors was told by the Labor Ministry that its use of irregular workers is illegal, but instead of correcting the situation it continues the coercive behavior, which is why its irregular workers have been engaged in struggle for more than eight months. One worker has committed suicide at this point, and yet the management's approach remains unchanged. The authorities, however, continue to ignore what strictly speaking is illegal activity.
The issue with irregulars at Hyundai Motors is more than one that's simple labor-management conflict. Once the authorities find you to be illegally outsourcing you labor the demand that you correct the problem is extremely natural. Hyundai remains stubborn, however, and the workers struggle is becoming fiercer. When the struggle began and a union member attempted self-immolation, the company took an even tougher stance. The company's security guards even handed over the union's leader, who had been on company grounds, over to the police. The union says that 99 of its members have been fired...

================================================== ========
What third world tactics are these?
It seems to me like a company that acting many times illegally, ignoring the rules of respect to its workers' personality.
I disagree with this behavior and I say:
Let's boycotage Hyundai!

Maybe if the workers upped their intake of fiber, they wouldn't be irregular.
