Dear readers of this Thread:
All of you that you are interested to buy a new car. I suggest to boycotage Hyundai because Hyundai acted illegaly. More specific, in 2004, Kim Dong Jin, CEO and vice chairman of the Company, was sentenced to a suspended prison term for making illegal donations to politicians during the 2002 presidential election. He was found guilty of donating W10 billion ($10 million), which far exceeded the legal limit. Furthermore, in September 2004, the Ministry of Labor found that the Company had illegally hired 10,000 assembly line workers to reduce labor costs. Although the Ministry requested that the Company contract directly with the workers and stop using them illegally, the Company failed to meet the request. See the link (it’s a pdf file, and you will find the information I gave you, in page 5 at the first 3 paragraphs): http://www.glasslewis.com/downloads/...ndaimotors.pdf So dear friends, Hyundai in the past acted illegaly, not once but more. Moreover, one of Hyundai’s illegal acts, was the illegal workers that had in the assembly lines of its construction units. That act is not only unethical but it is also bad for the consumers of its products (cars): the illegal workers can not have the same skills that have the legal workers. And if the illegal workers have not the same skills, then the cars that produce are worst in construction quality than those cars that builded from legal workers. So, Hyundai Motor Company with this action, is acting against us, the consumers. Let’s boycotage Hyundai. Never buy any car of this company! We owe that to our global community: if we like a legal world, then we must boycotage all companies that act illegally!

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!
Welcome back.... As far as workers being legal or illegal, not sure, nor do I care, but i disagree with your statement that the quality of work from legal to illegal workers... do you have proof that says the illegal workers don't have the same skill set as the the legal ones? that's like saying a mechanic that isn't ASE certified isn't as knowledgeable as an ASE Certified mechanic, when in reality, most good mechanics i know weren't ASE certified for a long time and only obtained their certification so have a fancy piece of paper to make the over paranoid customers feel more comfortable about having them work on their cars. When in reality they haven't learned anything new from taking the ASE course.

I take it that since you are still out there trying to give Hyundai a bad name, that they didn't give you a new engine. How's the lawsuit going?

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!
Goodmorning folks!
To Greenblurr93: The workers that I mentioned, back then, were illegal, that’s for sure… You avoiding the problem by saying you do not care… Straight question: You agree with this illegal workers hiring policy? Yes or No, and why (justify your opinion). I also believe that the workers at the assembly lines that are not illegal, it is sure that they have taken some training courses and some practical exercise before to start producing. I believe that the illegal workers haven’t follow the same procedures. Also if the legal workers have a relative certificate, they can not be at the same knowledge level with the illegal workers. Because the certificate represent / reflect something: a relative knowledge. If you dear Greenblurr93 are saying that the certificate worth nothing, then you downrate everything. You know: if we lived in a world with anarchy, then everyone would claimed that has the skills to make anything. But as common sense saying, anyone can not do everything. Everybody has some skills and those skills certified by a certification. That is a world with taxis (order) and rules. So… yes, the illegal workers can not have the same skills that the legal have. Furthermore, the legal workers have a working past. Their working past, gave them experience. And as you know, experience is very valuable. In the other hand, illegal workers, obviously, started working immediately after their employment. I don’t imagine that the illegal workers had an adaption period to gain experience. Experience is gained in the long term. The illegal workers haven’t this long term period. It is sure that after the Company hired them, start working immediately: because the purpose was to reduce the cost. The legal workers are working in the long term, so, regardless to certifications, they have working experience. So it seems to me, that legal workers are by far, better than illegal. To lowsonome1999: I don’t try to give Hyundai a bad name. I just realized that Hyundai is not the good company I used to think. So, I try to inform my fellow consumers. I didn’t run a lawsuit against Hyundai. I don’t care about Hyundai, so to spend money and time for a lawsuit. But informing my fellow consumers is worthing, because it’s creative (knowledge for the others) and amusing (for me). Where is Hudson??? I missed you guys!

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!
So by your thinking, because they were hired illegally, they don't have skills? The hiring practices of a company have nothing to do with the individuals skill set... For example, here in the US, you are required to give your social security number for a job when hired. Not doing so, and remaining employed is illegal... so if you remain employed and the company turns a blind eye... you were hired illegally, but that doesn't mean you don't have the necessary skills for the job.
And to answer your question, no, i don't care if Hyundai hired some of their employees legally, it doesn't affect me so i don't waste my time on it. |

That is something that you know it but I believe you don’t want to admit. But I will prove it to you, again (because I prove it in my previous comment): our common friend’s lowsonoma1999 real name is John Nance as his signature indicates. So John Nance is Parts Manager. If me, sofpan, could hire one Mexican illegally to do the work of John, do you believe that the Mexican guy would do the job with the same quality? I don’t think so. Because John Nance has experience that the illegal Mexican will not have. And because the illegal Mexican have not experience, is paying much lower than our friend John. So, dear Greenblurr93, do you believe that the Mexican guy would do the same job with John? Could he replace John? Quote:
It affects you because illegal workers produce worse products than the legal workers. Furthermore, everybody knows that those things are unethical.

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!
What skills does it take to assemble a car though? 90% of it is robotics. And how hard is it to tighten a bolt. I was able to visit the Asan plant in Korea where they make the Sonata and Azera. Almost all of it was robots. The workers that were there, they just stood there waiting for the next car to come down the line. When it showed up, they grabbed a center console for examble, put it in, tightened the 2 bolts, and the car went on it's way. How hard is that? I don't think there are any skills needed for that. My wife could do that. I would say very little of the assembly actually took a lot of skill or training.

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!
To Greenblurr93:
In the example that you gave me when you was younger, that you were hired illegally (needed to have a high school diploma and you were still in high school) and even though, you were hired illegally, you managed to get yourself promoted pretty high in the company, even surpassing co-workers who had degrees relevant to the field you were in... is only an exception. And I’ll tell you why: the rule, when we are talking about illegal workers (many of them), is that those men are immigrants, moreover illegal immigrants. When someone is immigrant, illegal or not, as a rule, he has poor level of education, practical skills and serious working experience. And that’s why, whoever hires illegal immigrants, hires them for some work that doesn’t need special skills or working background. Your case Greenblurr93 was just an exception. Because you weren’t an immigrant. The immigrants that are illegal, came to the Country that they came (e.g. Mexicans or Cubans to US, or Albanians to Greece) because at their Country, were poor, very poor. The people of one nation, if they have education and skills – as a rule – don not “escape” to another nation to search a job. They can survive and prosper in their Land. In the other hand, in a poor Country, the people that have not special skills, knowledge and education, can not have a nice life, so they leave, going to some richer nation around their neighborhood, to have a better chance. In your case Greenblurr93 – that was an exception – you were hired illegally but as you were an American, you had the needed skills for the job. If you were an immigrant, you wouldn’t have the skills. Conclusion: the rule is that illegal workers are usually immigrants that not have skills. Their advantage is that they cost lower than the legal workers and the companies that want to keep the cost as low as they can, hire them (the illegal immigrants). To lowsonoma1999: Of course the skills that are need to assemble a car in a modern car industry with robo systems, are not the same with the skills are needed for a managerial job like yours. But even this job (car assembly) it needs some skills. And those that do this job, lots of years and have experience (the legal workers) are better than those who don’t (illegal workers). The companies hire them, only because they are much cheaper. Do you think that the company would hired the illegal workers if it would pay them as much as the legal workers? You know the answer: No. If the illegals, cost the same with the legals, every company would choose the legals. Why? Because the legal worker is better in the job. That is the Rule. And lowsonoma1999, yes, some jobs may be more easier than others, but even the more easier jobs, have their difficulty level and can not everyone, succeed. As an example, I will say to you that your wife can not tighten 2 bolts, the way you can or even, any man can. That’s why in car assembly units, don’t have women for the assembly job. The car industries have men for this job. Finally, I will focus to essence: even if the illegal workers could do the job the same way the legals do, the case is that is unfair to hire illegal workers. It is unfair because the illegals do not have social security, cost much cheapier to companies and then, use the “poor” illegal works as pressure weapon, pressing the legal workers, not to ask better wages, better working conditions etc. So, the whole behavior of the companies that hire illegal workers, is immoral. It’s against the rights of the people.

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!
Sofpan your an idiot! Your posts prove it!!
If you want to start a boycott lets start with GM! They have been suckering loyal consumers since around 1994 into buying vehicles with the 3.1/3.4/4.3/5.0/5.7 liter engines that are well known for there intake gasket failures at regular intervals. Failure to replace these can and does result in major mechanical failures that cost thousands to resolve. The replacement of these gaskets will run $500 to $1000 and they fail as often as every 40K miles? Has GM done anything to resolve the issue or help out the consumer, absolutely not! Just to make this abundantly clear, every one of these motors produced with this particular intake gasket is prone to this failure. Every one!!!! Then these CEO clowns say there broke and thy will have to shut down? I say good! Your track record has proven that the only thing you care about is the sale of the vehicle. There is no concern of quality or dependability. The big three have relied on nothing more than consumer loyalty for the last several years and guess what consumers have started to catch on. They can buy a import that has better overall value, less maintenance and more reliable! Something the "Big Three" should have considered years ago!!!! I just bought my new Tundra a week ago Saturday. There was no shortage of people buying Toyota's. In fact three of us purchased new Tundras that morning! How many "import" dealers have you heard of that have had to close? And your worried about some illegal employees that can't handle tightening a bolt with a preset tool! Immoral is a domestic company that sells millions of vehicles with these engines to unsuspecting consumers! The saddest thing is there are people that keep buying them knowing full well that gasket will fail? Ignorance rains supreme in there world and your world!

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!
Dear Airjer, I agree with you: the big 3 failed, proved to be worthless. That's why some brands like Hyundai, that was cheap, gained a large portion of the market. Between blinds, the one eye man rules.
I say there are good companies, reliable, cost worthy in the long term. I believe those companies are Toyota, Honda and Skoda. But there are many bad companies that used illegal tactics and policies and showed no respect to customers. I believe Hyundai is among them. I also believe that the "big 3" have no right to ask for bail out from government. I say, let's boycotage all these worthless companies!

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!
Well then since you see the big picture and not just the few pixels that your intitial post suggested, I take my calling you an idiot!
However Hyundai still builds a good car, there is no arguing that. I recommend them to my customers that are looking for less expensive alternatives and to date there has been very little let down. In fact I convinced one of our very loyal domestic driving customers to give a sante fe a chance since they where in the market for a small suv. They purchased one and thank me for the recommendation every time they bring it in for service!

Re: Boycotage illegal acting Hyundai Motors!
I'm very happy that we all agree, that we must boycotage the illegal acting companies and all those that showing no respect to their customers!
Never buy a Hyundai! Never buy a car from the Big 3! It’s outrageous the Big 3 to ask for billions of money, to bail out them! Why? For the junk cars that made? What for? Let’s boycotage!
