...and the chances of this translating into a 1/24 scale kit?

1/12th would allow super duper detailing like the Tamiya Porsche 935. Rumor has it SMS is cooking something up.

If it must be 1/24th, the Fujimi kit is pretty common. I admit I've never built one but do have one in the pile. It looks like very good quality tooling and I've seen 'em built to a high standard. It has nice wheels/tires and some photoetch too. The downside is that there is only half an engine. I think that can be replaced with an HRM resin offering but haven't pursued it.

I had the 1/24 Renaissance full detail resin GT40 but the fit looked awful so onto fleabay it went. Avoid that thing..

Re: Trumpeter GT40

It would just be nice to have an all in one plastic kit in my "usual" scale.
Lately, I've been looking towards the KA models transkit but haven't actually seen it live so am a bit unsure of it. There's also the Le Mans Miniatures kit that looks very tempting. Or of course the old fashioned way of scratching the rear frames and nicking an engine from a mustang kit.

Re: Trumpeter GT40

Oops,
DM just jogged my rusty memory. It was the LeMans Miniature's kit I had and sold because of poor fit, warped or missing pieces, not Renaissance. For the price that kit should have been better. (I just verified this was the kit on their website.) It had opening doors, full engine detail and should have been a stunning model when built. I bought it new and sealed from an authorized LMM dealer at a model show too. The dealer did have them send "most" of the missing parts but it was an annoying experience.

I don't know about the KA offering. Anybody have one?

What's interesting is that you are a 1/24 bigot, DM.

Every time I try telling the fanatics in The 1/25 World Domination Jihad that you guys actually exist, they treat me as if I'm talking about unicorns...

Please shut up...!!!! Don't let me dream too much, please...
