Completed: 1/24 Porsche 911 GT1

Overall a very enjoyable if at times frustrating build. I really am enjoying building these GT cars and they do seem to offer a tremendous amount of scope for super-detailing, especially these Tamiya kits which come with a motor and decent interior detailing. This was only made frustrating by my opening up of the shell. The main thing to come from this build is that I have decided that I have to find a neat and accurate way of hinging doors - there simply has to be a better way and I am determined to work it for the next full detail build.

The bonnet fit could have been better also and I had to do a considerable amount of filling to get it looking anywhere near neat enough. I dont know if there are any finer saws available, I currently use the Hasegawa Needle Saw set, if anyone knows a better solution I'm all ears.

I will have more pics of my site when I get the time to update it.

So enough waffling here are the Completed pics...

and finally, three generations of Porsche Sports cars...

a final thanks again to everyone for your kind words during the WIP, next up will be an OOB Mitsubishi Evo IV WRC from Hasegawa

Again, an excellent build. I love this livery, what an eye catcher. The great attention to details and clean building skills make this another winner for you. I like the 3 of them together, what a contrast in style and it really shows the evolution of the car.

Superb work Seany, it looks really amazing. Prime place on the modeling shelf for this baby I think...

Re: Completed: 1/24 Porsche 911 GT1

Looks superb and the detailing is fantastic. When removing body panels such as the bonnet I use a fine scriber and go over the panel lines more and more until you are just about through and then when almost through use a piece of cotton/thread to finish it off (use like a cheese wire). This results in a panel gap that should only be very marginally larger than the original gap and should not need much cleaning up. Give it a try and see what you think.

Fantastic work there. I doubt though that you can just build something OOB. WeŽll see about that, I suppose.

I really like the last picture. You made yourself a generations collection. Very nice!
