Brian can you tell me if it's 427 hp or 427 ci.?? I am hoping that once I purchase a new engine that I might be as fast on the straight away as a cup car. Any suggestions on what type of engine and hp would be good. Thanks
Sort of...easy there with the 800 stuff (we would bend a chassis at that level)....we put 450 (500 flywheel) to the ground. We built a motor that could do 800 flywheel but it wouldnt last like we wanted. We wanted a motor that would last 100+ hours without thinking about it. So we detuned and detuned untill the engine was so starved for fuel it barely would idle and that was the ticket. We run a tiny little carb (390 cfm) if you can believe it. Combine that with a restricted intake and we are perfect. The car is very competitive with 996's. A 997 with a GREAT driver and I think you might need a little more. It is hard to say. We dice with the 997/996 every event and WIN. They hate us in Florida. We love it !!! If we changed to a 650cfm carb we jump to 530 (600 flywheel) to the ground and then we have a monster on our hands (carb is in the trailer waiting for that ass that pisses us off...takes about 20 minutes and we jump almost 100ponies...I love muscle cars). It was harder to drive with 530hp and we ate rear tires. The cup cars had NO chance. We also run much wider tires then stock and you NEED it.

Search my posts and you find all the specs and everything. I have tested these motors for a few years in 2 cars and I have the pkg and the builder. I highly recommend our pkg. if you want to target 997/996's. We have gone thru 4 diff. engine builders and specs since 2004 and this is the ONE!
