99 GP with odd front end noise

my wife has a 1999 GP when she goes over speed bumps the front suspension makes a metallic scrape it sounds like trying to drill through a mild steel billet a very high pitched scrape

i know the car has 4 wheel struts i think mcpherson does it have a lower ball joint or no i know some front end strut set ups still have a lower ball joint or will i be better off replacing the front struts

i have the feelng that its a strut thats gone sour

any ideas?

Re: 99 GP with odd front end noise

The first thing I would check is for a broken/cracked front stabilizer bar, pretty common issue on these cars. If that checks out, I would look at the lower control arm bushings and struts.

Here's a picture of how mine broke. It almost didn't appear broken, but once I took the endlink off, the two peices came apart.

I replaced it with a ZZP GMPP one, it came with new endlink bushings and midpoint bushings.

Its been a good month for broken sway bars! The lower control arm front bushings are pretty common as well. You will see the rubber part pushed out of the control arm and sometimes the control arm resting on the sub frame if there really bad.

It would help to post the current mileage on suspension issues.
