Re: Any bikers out there?

i love biking, almost as much as swimming, which i love almost as much as rowing. i'm using my dad's 30 year old 10speed, an old peugeot, runs like a dream, i'm gonna have it tuned up because it doesn't change speeds very well, it skips a few of them. i'm planning on biking to school in the spring when it warms up, not sure how long of a bike ride it is but it's a 40-50 minute drive.

I have a Fuel 90 as well, pretty nice full suspension bike. I built up a Marin Indian Fire Trail last winter, its a pretty nice ride as well.

For me, its the weather. I am not a die hard, like a lot of guys who put in 50-100 miles a day, no matter the weather. That kills your body. The guy I bought the bike off of, was 10 years my jr, but looked a little older than me, because he was a pro, he had to go out and ride matter what. The weather aged him, that is why he retired.

I use to swim all the time, until I started to have shoulder issues, hence the bike

Nice bikes are not cheap, this one was $5400 new. I bought it with a half season on it for $800. Plus he gave all of his cycling stuff for another $200, and I am not sure how much that would of cost, but I would put it over a grand easy.

Re: Any bikers out there?

I used to cycle rain or shine when I was racing nationally, the weather only ages you if you don't prepare correctly, I'm 31 and people still think I'm 24.

BTW, I sold the Fuel90 this last, a guy at work made me a good offer and the money is better than a bike sitting around not being ridden.

The weather ages you, depending on the climate you ride in You do not see riders running around with a full face screen, do you?

You use to ride nationally? I am shooting for a Cat3 my first season, I doubt I'll make it, but you never know until you try

Re: Any bikers out there?

I have several bikes.

1: Trek 380 Sport (23cx700c)
2: Schwinn Frontier mountain bike (1.175x26 inch)
3: GT Mach 1 (1.175x20 inch)
4: 1977 Mongoose Motomag (2.0x20 inch)
5: GT Interceptor (2.195x20 inch)

The mongoose motomag is by far my favorite. The schwinn frontier is the most frequently ridden. The GT interceptor is the lightest. The trek is the fastest. The mach 1 is just to have cause i got a good deal and its a dave voelker? and some other guy issue, james or jamie? something.

I have other bikes too, but these are the ones i like. Ive put several thousands of miles on them over a span of many years. Later this week i will post up some pics. I have to get my hands on the digi cam first. I ride them all the time .

I haven't raced since I was 17. Don't try to win races your first year, just try to finish at the front. Without the experience of being at the front at the end of the race, you will find yourself getting overzealous in the final miles of the race and gas yourself before the final sprint. You should always have at least four guys in front of you during your learning period otherwise you will get to the front and pull way to hard.
