Re: Is this place dead or dying?

I blame it on over-diversifying. While at the time we all thought it was a great idea it was the start of the end in here. If there is a section for everything then there is no longer a need for a section for everything that doesn't fit. Which is what off-topic was.

Re: Is this place dead or dying?

If it hasnt been mentioned already, i think it has to do with the increase in car-specific forums.

Ie there's Benzworld, MBworld, Mercedesshop, for MBz. Then there's BimmerForums, E46 fanatics, M5board etc for BMw. ANd on and on and on....RX8 Club for Mazda RX8s...

When you have all of those car-specific forums, one large, "general" board is just basically...obsolete.

Hell. I remember when we all used to bitch about the "The Server is too busy at the moment, please try again later" page.

I've been here since my freshman year at high school, now I graduated and am heading off to Rutgers New Brunswick.

And I basically hang around all the Benz and Bimmer forums...most notably BimmerForums.

My thoughts exactly. I used to post a lot in the GM H/C body forums but after i found a couple other forums that specialized in these platforms I migrated there. The forums are great here, but with there being so many subforums it just seems like there are too few people that are experts with any one particular platform.

If some of the lesser subforums were grouped back together I think that would help visibility of several platforms. For example: In the Buick section the LeSabre, Electra, and Park Avenue subforums could all be lumped together into one forum since all the cars are basically the same.

Obviously you weren't around here in the middle of July.

Re: Is this place dead or dying?

Same, I've migrated to cadillacforums.com

But I refuse to give up on AF. There are too many decent people here.
