I made mine. But unless you like soldering and heat shrinking about 70 connections.. I don't recommend.

Oops. That harness was on Clubcivic.com for $80.

I look at too many different classified sites.

Re: okay so this 91 civ is pissing me off

Well did my harness for next to nothing (literally, hacked the harness from a junkyard car and used my old ecu) but I did have to use 3 different diagrams at the same time just to make sure i had everything in order.

Id list them but they are on my laptop.

Yes, doing it yourself is cheaper, but its much harder to do than just buying a premade one and plugging it in. I'm assuming he wants to keep it as simple as possible.

Re: okay so this 91 civ is pissing me off

bah... simple.. who wants to do it that way? lol

easier to do it w/ a plugin harness, cheaper (money wise) to do it on your own.. but time wise, I think you'll also find it's cheaper than spending hours of checking and soldering to make sure that everything is perfect, when you could just plug in and be ready.

Re: okay so this 91 civ is pissing me off

alright- I conversed w/ him and he bought just a motor w/ msd ignition and the mpfi manifold and injectors,

He is going to run the engine w/ the dpfi and the old ecu and the msd and a cold air intake and thats it. Kinda different a, this just isn't american to treat a D16z6 like this?

how much would you say the z6 mpfi manifold and injectors would be worth?

Re: okay so this 91 civ is pissing me off

No reason to run a MSD ignition with DPFI. The only thing he needs MSD would be an RPM activation switch, but on a DPFI he kind of defeats the whole point of upgrading to a z6.

Seriously he should atleast convert to MPFI and run the a6 computer.

Re: okay so this 91 civ is pissing me off

DPFI won't give enough fuel if he happens to hit Vtec somehow... not to mention he'll be lacking about 30 HP top-end.

Not enough fuel == dead engine at high RPM's, possible overheating due to lean mixtures, and eventually, melt-down. (literally... it can melt pistons into baseballs.... tiny aluminum baseballs.)

Re: okay so this 91 civ is pissing me off

so what if A main relay doesnt work only when it is hot outside. Is this repairable if it is not just bad connections/soldier?

Re: okay so this 91 civ is pissing me off

Usually the hot fail condition is BECAUSE of the bad solder connections inside the relay.

buy a new one, keep the old one for a spare, after you fix it.

Re: okay so this 91 civ is pissing me off

I have 4 main relays and they all dont work when it is hot outside, I thought that a resistor or something fails when it gets to hot, but thats great if they only need to be resoldiered.

my new, lightly used engine started to puff out oil smoke out the tailpipe only after it is warmed up and then I sit a red light or let it idle about 30 seconds to a minute, when I take off or rev it it will blow out the oil smoke and thats it and the exhaust looks normal after that.

what does that mean?

worn/cracked rings, usually... if they only do it in high-vacuum situations, i.e. when you're at low RPM and mid-high throttle.
