Chevy Chevelle `70

Well... this is my current WIP.
Been building if for a while now.

Kit is from AMT and is really bad.

Here are the pics.

Stay brutal.

Re: Chevy Chevelle `70

Huh, I thought the AMT kit would be just like the '70 Monte Carlo with revised bodywork, since the underpinnings are identical. Yes, it does look low-quality. I'm not a fan of the chopped top but glad to see you fixing up the cruddy kit problems.

Re: Chevy Chevelle `70

The Revell Chevelle (huh-huh I made a ryme huh-huh) is pretty decent. Thanks for the heads up re: the AMT.

Whats going on with model companies lately? The scene is better than its ever been, but the model companies are using ancient molds and turning out crappy kits left and right.

Is that a resin copy of the grille?

No.
I stripped the chrome and cut off lights and bumper part.

Except the Monte has a much longer wheelbase (118" vs 112" on the Chevelle.) The Monte is a nice modern technology tool while the Chevelle dates back to the annual kits of the 60's. If anyone wants to use the MC chassis with this kit the WB should be shortened ahead of the firewall.

Nice start on the Chevelle!

Oh, OK. If you like the '70 Chevelle (and there are many who do, including myself), it seems best to get this AMT kit as well as one of the Monte Carlos because the MC has a great engine and suspension. Modify the frame a little and kitbash the interior parts as necessary and you've got a good, realistic build. The Revell is unfortunately in 1/24 scale for whatever reason, so you can't do the same with it (even though it is only a little better than the AMT).

Very nice modifications so far. I can't wait to see what you have in store for the car next.
