Re: Are 350's intergangeable?

"is the knock sensor, which goes into the drain port on the side of the block, and the oild sending unit which goes in the port above the oil filter"

What exactlt would I have to worry about? There no ports for the knock sensor or oil sending unit on an older block?

All the ports are there. There are plugs at the bottom of the block, halfway down the side. They are block drains for antifreeze. GM used the passenger side later for the knock sensor.

Sorry I was not clear on this. 96 was the first year for the 5.0 and 5.7 (V8) Vortec. The 4.3 Vortec (V6) came out earlier around 92 (but not 100 % sure of the first year).
